works but i cant watch videos or listen to music or do anything without it lagging.
Please help me to get it working cause my laptop is dead and dont have another choice rightnow school starts in a week.
Thank You for your Time.
Given these specs, this computer should be able to handle basic applications such as video or music.
For the lagging: there is most likely a software problem, not hardware. In other words: your computer is physically fine, it's what's on your computer that's the problem. This could be because of too many programs, viruses, etc.
This is what I would do:
1. Save all of your data on this computer to a flash drive, cd, or other computer.
2. Install a fresh copy if Windows XP by using the recovery disks that came with your computer.
3. Install new drivers for your motherboard. They are located HERE (download only the drivers that go with your operating system, which is Windows XP in this case).
4. Transfer your old data back on to your cleaned computer. Do yourself a favor and only transfer the data that you actually need. If this is truly a school computer, keep it that way.
Don't put money into this computer, especially if you are planning to buy a new complete system. A video card on this system just wouldn't make sense, it would be like dressing up a pig. Sorry, bad analogy. In other words, if all the components are old and it has an awesome video card, the video card won't be able to perform at its full potential. It'd be pointless.
The monitor isn't the problem. Arguably, monitors never cause lagging problems.
