The keyboard on my laptop is locked and i cant use it to search but upon startup it works and i can input the password to open it and then it locks again
It sounds like your keyboard device driver. It may have been "updated" automatically.
Do you have a spare USB keyboard or can you remove one from a desktop temporarily?
Power OFF the laptop and plug in the USB keyboard. Power ON laptop.
Use the USB keyboard, not the laptop keyboard for this procedure.
First, does the USB keyboard work w/o locking up?
Anyway, Go to the "Device Manager" by right-clicking "My Computer" and select "Manage".
A list of Your computer devices will appear on the right window. Expand the +Keyboard and find the HID Keyboard Device associated to your laptop. (Pick one by checking the properties of each one to see which one may not be working)
(( btw, HID = Human Input Device ))
You can either "UNINSTALL" it or "UPDATE DRIVER"
When finished, reboot, remove USB keyboard if you want to and the laptop keyboard will work just fine, or the OS will "find" it first , then start working ok.
Follow the steps, it will work.
