SOURCE: I have a Goodman GMS8 furnace. The unit will

Does the furnace fire then go out? If it fires then goes out its most likely the the flame sensor. This will be a steel rod that is in the path of the flame when it fires usually opposite end of ignitor. Take this off and clean it with steel wool or very fine sand paper. Make sure to pick the right part, the part that glows red is your hot surface ignitor and should never be touched as the grease on our fingers will react with the silicade nitrade and cause failure.

Take a jumper wire and jump out the R and W terminals on the furnace. The heat should come on. If it does not, you have a bad board. A steady blink indicates no call for heat. You may have either a broken thermostat wire or a bad thermostat if unit fires when you jump it.

My heater (GMT070-3B) isn't working. It seems like it tries to fire up three times, then stops and I have one blinking light. How can I fix it?

after 3 times of unsuccessful lighting it will lock out and you have to reset by unplugging it or turning power off ...where is it failing...is the hot surface ignitor glowing on unit or does it make it to that point... it is a porcelein glow plug in unit... the enducer draft motor should come on first then close the pressure switch this is the round device with a hose on it..check the hose pull it off and blow through it ... after the pressure switch closes then the ignitor should come on and you should be getting 120 volts to the plug on it...check that may be it ...after it glows then the gas valve opens and it fires once heated then the blower will come on... check on the burner assembly all your safety switches some of them have resets in the middle push the little buttons and make sure they are good.... hope this helps you out... the ignitor is a common problem

Goodman dependable 92,7years old. Furnace works sometimes. Checked out by qualified technican. no problem found. Constant checks shows troubleshooting light blinks three (3) times. Help please. 3...

This indicates a open limit switch on the furnace, the heat exchanger is getting to hot therefore the limit switch is opening and not allowing the furnace to work properly. Did the techinician check the limit switch on the unit?

PGB030075-1 Led light is blinking 4 quick blinks. blows out cold air. What does this mean?

4 blinks indicates a failure at the high limit switch. This switch is usually located on the heat exchanger face plate and has two wires going to it. Usually it fails because the furnace has over heated. The most common reasons are a plugged filter or coil that is limiting the airflow over the heat exchanger. Turn off the power to the furnace, replace the filter, clean any coils in the plenum and verify that all the vents in the home are open. Then turn the power back on and see if it is fixed. :)
If the above solution does not fix the problem, the limit switch itself may be bad from excessive heat. Replace it with a new one. Good Luck!

Goodman heater..no heat

If you look thru a small viewing window, you will notice a small LED light blinking. Count the blinks and then remove the front access panel. On the reverse side you should find a diagnostic chart indicating what could be the issue based on the number of blinks.

AIR or Heat wont come on/ goodman GMP075-3

If there is no blinking light, then the unit is not seeing a call for heat or cool. My guess is a lose or broken wire in the thermostat circuit. Try and putting a jumper across the red and white heat terminals inside the furnace and manually closing the door switch. If you get heat, it's telling you there is a wiring issue. If you get nothing, it's a bad circuit board.

Cycling the external switch on the GMS series will not help you. That switch is for A/C only. At the unit found inside the house, remove the front cover. If there is a door switch, tape it closed. Now if the thermostat is calling for heat, the unit will cycle as you mentioned. When the unit does not start, check for a blinking light on the circuit board. After three unsuccessful tries, the light will blink a code (2 blinks then a pause up to 9 blinks than a pause). Make a note of how many blinks you see. On the reverse side of the access panel you will find a diagnostic schematic. It should tell you a fault code corresponding with your blinking. This will give you a starting point where to look. If the codes are not found there, check inside your owner's manual. Or you can call Goodman at 713-861-250.

Get back to us with those codes and maybe we can help you further.

Goodman code problem three blinks

Same problem with 1 yr old Goodman. Checked entire exhaust and pressure switch. Inside fan, pressure switch hose clogged with crusty white gunk. Cleaned it & furnace fixed. I have no furnace repair experience, but love to "play MacGyver". Hopefully this could save someone a service call.
