In the device manager, check to see if the drivers for the synaptic pointing device (touch pad) are installed. If they aren't then you will need to go to Toshiba's support site and download them. If they are, then unistall them and reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. Many times when an external is used, especially for a long period os time, the drivers for the external will override or glitch the drivers for the internal. Reinstalling them should do the trick.

SOURCE: the touchpad mouse on my toshiba salellite does

The touchpad is most probably defective. If you have dropped your laptop the touchpad cable could have get out from its connector on the mainboard. You can get a new touchpad/palmrest on ebay. You have to remove your touchpad/palmrest as shown in the link below, steps 17 to 19 :

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-motherboard-1.htm

Identify the part number of your touchpad/palmrest. Search on ebay.com : Toshiba Satelitte A105 palmrest. Buy the one with the same part numer as yours.

...or have your laptop repaired by a professional.

How to get the Toshiba satellite c 55-A-100 mousepad working aga

On my Satellite Pro P800 one of the F - Keys shows a small mouse if I press this it cycles the touchpad mouse feature on/off. I would guess your laptop has a similar feature. When all else fails read the on line manual. I hate the mousepad and always use a wireless Logitech mouse..

My mouse pad and two click bars do not work? a wireless mouse does work though. why isnt it reading my finger across the pad when i want to use it instead of the wireless mouse?

You may have it disabled. Press and hold the "fn" key then and press the key that has a symbol for the touchpad on it. For my satellite it is the F9 key. Then give it a shot. It should work.

Toshiba A100 touchpad mouse not moving

Hi,
Many toshibas have the facility to turn the mouse/trackpad on or off. I have seen it on the upper keys in blue text, meaning you need to hold the fn (Function) key down at the same time as the mouse enable/disable key.

Touch pad refuses to work

Try going to Toshiba's support page and re-install the driver for the touchpad. If this does not work. You may need to replace the touchpad itself.

Mouse or touchpad not working

Hi,

add an external mouse/keyboard to fix the onboard fault.
check the device manager for any yellow exclamation marks. as there may be a faulty or corrupt. keyboard/mouse touchpad driver.
other option, is to add remove touchpad drivers, and re-install.
finally, you could check if the settings are correct in the bios.

Thankyou For Using Fixya.

Touch pad possessed.

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can goto the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Alternatively, you can permanently disable the touchpad of your laptop by clicking the "Disable Device" in the Touch Pad setting. Advanced users can disable the touchpad from the BIOS setup [press F2 when the computer is booting to enter BIOS settings]

For extra USB ports, purchase a USB hub($15 -$20). That way you can add at least 4 USB ports to your laptop.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
