There are several possible causes for "memory card locked/protected", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.
First, be sure the card slide switch is in the unlocked position. Then, insert the card, ignore the message on the screen and go into the camera menu to find "format"...then, follow the on-screen instructions.
No. The shutter lag is due to the camera needing to focus and meter the light. The size of the memory card makes no difference to the speed. A faster memory card might let you take another picture quicker, but the difference would only be a small fraction of a second.
Shutter lag is simply a fact of life for most point&shoot cameras. You can reduce it somewhat by anticipating the action, pressing the shutter release button halfway to focus and meter, then pressing the button the rest of the way when the action peaks.
I have the exact same problem on my finepix, it occured today when I was uploading pictures and the battery on the camera went out... Maybe its bricked or something such... Ive searched firmware downloads but no success..... So Im also hoping someone has a solution...
