Gateway laptop won't play media or detect usb/cameras/dvds
my laptop recently stopped playing music and videos that are on my computer(this does not affect online videos such as youtube videos, only content on my computer), and will not detect dvd's, my camera, flash drives or other external devices. Any ideas what the problem could be and if there is anything I could try that may fix this? Thanks!

Re: Gateway laptop won't play media or detect...
Click on Start>Right-Click My Computer>Click on Properties>Click on Hardware Tab>Device Manager. You will see a list of all of your hardware devices. Look for DVD/CD controller and click on the "+" sign to show the make and model of your DVD adapter. Right click on it and click on Troubleshooting. While you are there click on "Update Drivers" also, see if there is a new driver. Try doing the same thing for Video and Sound. Let me know how it turns out.

Is it possible that you have not download the whole music actually. How about giving this Leawo YouTube Downloader a try?
Leawo YouTube Downloader acts far more than a single online video downloader to download YouTube videos and other online videos from various video sharing sites like Facebook, Dailymotion, AOL, iFilm, Myspace, Dailymotion, etc. Besides the ability to download online flash videos, this FLV downloader could also acts as video download accelerator to speed up online video downloading, video accelerator to speed up video buffering for smooth playback, video player to play back videos, and IE browser to browse online videos for free downloading. It could extract audios out of online videos, like converting YouTube video to MP3. With Leawo YouTube Downloader, watching online videos offline anytime anywhere is just a piece of cake.
Hi, friend! May you have downloaded a low quality software. Maybe you need change one. I was using aneesoft free youtube downloader. It can save downloaded youtube videos as four format. May there is one format which you want.
your internet speed is not enough to play online using idm download video from youtube then play it any time.don't forget to turn on advance downloading option from option menu.then you will able download.
Videos on YouTube are streamed through Adobe Flash player. If you're having trouble playing and viewing videos YouTube, we suggest you install the latest version of the Flash player: this will allow you to easily play YouTube videos. Here's how to upgrade to the most recent version of Adobe's Flash Player:
Before installing the most recent version of Adobe Flash player, you will need to first uninstall any older versions of the Flash player you've installed in the past and currently have running on your computer.
Please completely uninstall the version of Flash you're currently running, before upgrading to the most recent version. To uninstall Flash, follow Adobe's instructions, listed here. You'll need to download Adobe's official Uninstaller to remove Flash.
Once you've uninstalled the older version of Flash, you'll be ready to upgrade to the most recent version of Flash. To upgrade to the most recent version of the Flash player, please follow these steps:
Once you've downloaded the latest version of Adobe Flash, please exit your browser.
Finally, click to install the update that you just downloaded to your computer from the Adobe Flash site. Once you've done so, open your browser again and go to YouTube. You should now be able so successfully watch videos!
If the instructions above don't resolve the issue, please also try the following:
Temporarily disable popup blocking software installed on your computer to test.
Allow YouTube.com as a trusted site in your Firewall software.
Ensure other applications like Quicktime, iTunes, Real Player, or Windows Media Player aren't set as the default streaming application, as this might affect the video player.
For Windows Vista users: If the Flash uninstall / reinstall does not work this maybe due to a Microsoft Windows Vista permissions issue.
Please use the Windows button at the bottom left then the search function:
Go to: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\.
Right-click on the following file: FlashUtil9b.exe or FlashUtil9e.exe.
Select "Run as Administrator" and install the update..
Restart your computer.
Please post your feedback and vote if the issue is resolved as per your satisfaction.
2. busy youtube site
3. congestion on the video itself (lots of people watching)
Solution: www.veoh.com like youtube but much faster.
Download the video directly on your computer using real plyaer video downloader and watch it that way. Or subscribe to a hgigh bandwith package or wait during non peak times.
Does this happen only when viewing online audio/video, as opposed to inserting a music-CD into your CD-drive, and using Windows Media Player to play the music?
If so, then how fast is your Internet connection?
It probably is too slow to download and play at the same time.
So, when you click on a YouTube video, click "pause",
and let the download proceed for a minute or two,
and then click "play", to play what has been downloaded.
You may either use a freeware like Audicity to record the music stream played on your computer, or use a video downloader to extract the audio from YouTube. Details are available here: download and record music from YouTube. Methods of Downloading Music from YouTube
