Question about Funai F4819T 19" TV

1 Answer

Tv comes on then shuts off

I recently moved my apartment around. There was work being done to it. The television worked fine as I was living temporarily in another apartment. I moved back into my original space and now it shuts off after being turned on. This is frustrating me. What is the real cause of this?

Re: Tv comes on then shuts off

The television is going into high voltage shut-down. Best guess, either a faulty voltage regulator, bad cap, or both. Be careful when working inside a television due to high voltages that are present even when television has been off and unplugged for days. Good luck.

Recently I moved my tv by truck to another home and it was very cold out( winter in massachusetts) the tv had some condensation then plugged it in and it was working fine for 4 hours or so...while changing...

There is no question in my mind that the extreme cold is the prevailing factor. Depending how long the set was in the cold determines the time needed at room temperature before you even plug it in. I have recommended up to 24 hours before the set is even used, because parts heat up rapidly when first turned on there is a greater chance of failure especially when it comes right out of the elements. From your description it sounds like one part has failed shutting the tv down and it is probably in the power supply, in my opinion it is worth getting it checked out.

Hi my name is jeremy snow and i have recently had problems with my sony trinitron xbr 1997. lately the picture like scrunches up into the top of the screen and the tv just goes black and now like sometimes...

This is typical with many sets when it goes old as there is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling , tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs.

Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points. Please find below a links for tips on poor start ups.

It is possible you need to check the soldering at the deflection circuits/audio sections as the picture/sound comes back due loose joints which contacts when the circuit is lifted. Solder all the suspected joints with a good light to assist and make sure there are not solder bridges.

Screen white tinted, horiz lines, then shuts off

Not acutally a solution. We are having this EXACT same problem; it started this week. Let us know what you are having done. I've called Toshiba and service reps but they are all quoting a price which is almost half the value of the tv. Have you been able to fix it? We are pretty upset since the 2year warranty recently expired. Obviously, it seems that others are having this problem as well. Email us:
