Question about Eljer Home
When I first installed this toilet it ran also. I was able to tighgten the two tank bolts and it stopped. This time when I replaced the toilet seal it did the same thing. This time I was not able to stop the running water. I have replaced the flapper and it is still running. There is no water entering the stand pipe. Any ideas?

SOURCE: I have an Eljer 141
I had one just like that where the overflow tube that the flapper connects to was cracked. It sounds like this is the only part you have not replaced. The flapper may not be seating onto the inlet either. If you replaced the flapper with a cheaper version of flapper, some new ones will even leak.

I have minute amount of leakage into the bowl causing mold to grow. I believe that it may be the rubber seal for the flapper body to the porcelain.

hi , the top of the bolt has a square shaft and slots in a grooved metal bracket , Try pulling down on the wingnut as you tighten , you should feel it slot in, once its semmi tight i shouldnt spin , If its been leaking then maybe its sludged up so you should take the cistern off alltogether and reset the rubber ring gasket , that way you can tape the bolt down with gaffa tape to aid reassembly,

Yes. You will have to remove your tank from the bowl to replace the defective fill stack(the tube thing your flapper is attached to) it is not as hard as it seems.First remove water supply tube. Then remove the through the tank bolts. should be two of them. Lift off and turn tank upside down. remove spud gasket. Unscrew old stack. You should be able to get a universal kit to work with your tank and should come with all new parts including new flapper and spud gasket. You will need new through the tank bolts and note the sequence of assembly to get water tight seal on tank. Hope this helps

Replace flapper, it is worn out.Turn off water valve. Flush toilet, remove flapper. Then replace flapper, adjust chain to same size as old one, then turn water back on.
