It is either the glo bar or your coil pack... If the glo bar is not white hot then it needs to be replaced. if it does turn white hot then it is the coil pack that quit working. You can usually take off one of the covers at the bottom of the dryer to see this.

I looked through the peep hole in front of my gas dryer and I don't see anything lit.Dryer spins great, but doesn't heat up. What is the problem?

Igniter - The dryer's igniter is what ignites the gas that has entereddryer-ignitor.jpg through the gas valve. It will glow red, then when it reaches a certain temperature, it will trigger a thermostat that opens up the gas valve and that's when the dryer starts to heat the air. If the igniter has failed, the motor will still run but not produce any heat.

DRYER RUNS BUT NO HEAT BELEIVE IT TO BE HEATING ELEMENT

With the gas machine you won't actually have a heating element. What you will have is a burner assembly. There are a few common things that can cause a gas dryer to stop heating.

The dryers have a square cap on the front near the bottom. Remove this with a knife or small object. Looking through this hole you are face to face with the burner assembly. Turn the machine on, if after 10-15 seconds you see a glow and the flame starts, you probably have a bad set of coils. Coils can allow the dryer to start, but after the flame goes off, they have problems starting it again. So, when you come back and find damp laundry, it may actually be heating, just not very well. IF there is no glow when you look through the peep hole, keep reading.

The most common part is a thermal fuse. This fuse is located on the back of the dryer. Simply unplug the dryer, pull it out, and remove the back (Eight 1/4 screws). The fuse looks like this http://www.appliancepartscompany.com/xcart/images/D/3392519.JPG it will be on the lower left hand side. If you do not have a multimeter to check continuity you cannot be for sure. This is a cheap start to figuring out your problem.

If you have a multimeter simply check the two terminals where the wires were plugged in for continuity. It should read about .1. This fuse goes bad when it gets to hot. There are few reasons this happens, but the #1 reason is that the vent to the dryer is clogged in some form or fashion. Outside the house where the vent exits should have a strong air flow while the dryer is on. If it is clogged by any means, the hot air cannot escape the dryer and the fuse will blow.

Two of the other commonly replaced parts are inside the dryer, accessible from the front. These parts are the ignitor and the coils.

I have a MD7600 maytag dryer. It runs but it will

when you turn it on give it a few minutes and see if you see a glow. that will be the ingnitor.if glowes low or dont see a glow at all then id say you have a bad ignitor. if you see a bright orange glow then id say your gas valve is bad. the ignitor is located next to the gas valve, usually their is a peep hole in the front of the dryer that you pop off (dime size cap) and you can look in hole and see if you see a glow. ignitor price roughly 20-50 dollars. vale can be pricey. 50-145.00 dollars part only. labor ingnitor 75-125 and for valve 85-165 depending on were you live and who you use. usually one or the other not both and seldom a thermostat could be bad.

No heat to dryer

it mean it dont have a gas pilot and it has a ignitor instead ,,,, if you turn on the dryer and dont see a glow then it may have a bad ignitor ,,, on a kenmore it should not have a door to open unless it is a old unit and the newer ones has a peep hole to see into.

Kenmore elite gas dry 6 years old - no heat

PUT YOUR DRYER ON AIR FLUFF AND TURN IT ON. THEN SELECT A HEAT SETTING. IF YOU HEAR A DISTINCTIVE CLICK WHEN YOU SELECT HEAT, THEN CHECK FOR A GLOWING IGNITOR. MOST KENMORE/WHIRLPOOL DRYERS HAVE A PEEP HOLE IN THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF THE DRYER. REMOVE A PLASTIC COVER TO VIEW INSIDE.
IF THE IGNITOR GLOWS, AND THEN CLICKS OFF, YOU HAVE A BAD SOLENOID (COIL SETTING ON TOP OF THE VALVE). IF IT NEVER CLICKS OFF, YOU HAVE A BAD RADIANT SENSOR( LOCATED ON THE SIDE OF THE BURNER HOUSING). IF NO IGNITOR GLOWING, THE IGNITOR IS BAD.

IF WHEN YOU SELECT HEAT, THERE ISN'T ANY CLICK, THEN THE THERMAL FUSE LOCATED BEHIND THE BACK PANEL DOWN NEAR THE EXHAUST IS BAD. IT IS A SMALL WHITE ITEM WITH TWO THIN WIRES ATTACHED TO IT.

make sure that your vent is not plug up can you go outside your house and feel good air coming out the vent when the dryer is turn on if so the only other things it could be is the coils that sit on the ignotor assmebly or the high limit termistat is not working properly the coils are little black circle coils that sit in the ignitor assmly should have a metal braket across the top of them holding them in you can check resistance on these coils if you have an meter

Dryer won heat timer dosen't avance

huntman, the model posted shows as a gas dryer. In the lower left side there is a square plastic peep hole. Take a putty knife and pull it off. Set the dryer to high heat and take a look in the hole. Does the ignitor glow? If it doesn't you either have a bad thermal fuse or a bad ignitor. Start with the thermal fuse. You will have to remove the back panel to get at it. I will attach a photo. You can ohm it out, or just jump the wires temp. to see if the ignitor glows. If theral fuse is good and the ignitor does glow, you probabley have a bad set of coils. These sit on the gas valve are easy to replace. The timer won't advance without the heat. Check this out first...Catriver..post back.
