Question about Refrigerators
A DEFORST TIMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFROSTING THE EVAPORATOR .THIS PROCESS TAKES PLACE EVERY 7 TO 8 HOURS..THERE IS A HEATING ELEMENT THAT IS PLACED BESIDE THE EVAPORATOR THE DEFROST TIMER CAUSES THE HEATING ELEMENT TO BECOME RED HOT AND IT IS THIS HEAT THAT MELTS THE FROST IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT.

on some models you can by pass the filter assembly you can do this by looking at the rear of the ref.at the water inlet valve you will see the lines going to the filter remove these line and look at the way the water goes into the ref you can move these lines around to bypass the filter this will tell ya if the filter assembly is bad I have seen where you cant use the filter on these machines and have to go to a in line filter.good luck and get back to me on this i will help you as much as i can

SOURCE: fridge is freezing up.
The defrost heater must be replaced when the defrost T-stat is replaced.
The main control board located on the rear of the fridge controls defrost sequence.

SOURCE: refrigerator not freezing
It appears that your thermostat setting is not correct. Please put it on HI cool and then check if the fridge is working OK . The problem could be due to leakage of gas. Please check this If both these fail then get your fridge checked up by a technician as there could be a internal problem. Most likely it is the above 2 problems.
