First you need to determine if it's a software or hardware problem. First, create a new user account, then log into that user account and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't then the issue is software. I would first try to reinstall the operating system using the discs that came with the computer. If the issue happens in the other user account, then it's a hardware problem, and it would be a god idea to take it to an Apple Store or an authorized service provider, especially if your computer is under warranty.

you should try a software update first along with a PRAM and SMC update (hold the power button down when the computer is off for 15 seconds-it will beep. immediately after that hold down the Apple, option, P and R keys simultaneously until the computer reboots and chimes 3 times)

You should only use Windows xp for running a program that is not yet available from Apple. There shouldn't be much reason to link to the net while in Windows. Also while in Windows you are wide open to any viruses that exist. Try getting your work done without getting on the net, then go back to your Apple format. There you are 99% free of viruses. … Still need to link onto the net let me know I will ask at our Apple Computer Club on Monday

SOURCE: after installing xp2 in apple

Sounds like you need to install drivers.

Always get your drivers and specific software from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop. They are usually free of charge.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

I hope this helps.

What is the best software on Mac to detect wireless network?

The simplest wifi detection software is already in Mac OS and is pretty easy to use. Open your System Preferences via your dock and then open the network connections icon. Then open your airport control. Look for the check box to put Airport control in the menu bar. After that, you can simply open the screen of your macbook and the antenna bars will show you available signal and if you click on the antenna icon (top right corner of screen), you can select the name of the available network... Pretty cool and you already own it!

I cannot access 192.168.0.1 with my Macbook

You should be able to connect wirelessly from your Mac to your Cradlepoint router to obtain this information whether or not the phone is actually connected.
With your router powered up and operational, click the Airport icon on your top menu bar and turn your Airport on. Then click it again and watch for your Cradlepoint's wireless network name to appear. Using whatever WEP or WPA password you previously established, connect to the Cradlepoint.
Now under the Apple menu, choose System Preferences / Network. Select Airport, Advanced, then TCP/IP. (In releases other than Leopard, these choices may differ.) Look at the line marked "Router." That is the address you have to browse to in order to communicate with your Cradlepoint.

MacBook not restarting when i choose to, it is just stuck...

Force shutdowns definitely have a chance to create problems -- eventually with hardware, but especially with software. If your computer is in the middle of writing a file when it is abruptly powered off, it may result in a corrupted file.
Have you tried resetting the SMC per these instructions? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
Also, some time when the airport does not function, go in to Apple System Profiler by choosing About This Mac, and then More Info, from the Apple menu. Then, click on Airport on the left side and see if it detects a card. If not, the airport card may be defective. If it does detect the card, but you can't use it, some of your network configuration files are probably corrupted.

Could not connect to campus wifi through leopard

You may need to access the network with the ASCII password. Is there a system administrator you can contact to get this code? It will be a very long string of characters and replaces the typical password you seen in many Airport type setups.

You can only use your Airport with one OS at a time. If you have OS X using it, XP will be able to piggyback.

Can't connect!

First of all... Unplug the modem, unplug the Airport (WiFi router) and turn off the Airport connectivity in your MacBook.
After 5 full minutes... Plug in the modem.
Wait 2 full minutes... Plug in the Airport.
Wait 1 full minute... Turn on the Airport connectivity in your MacBook.
After all of that...
If you're still not back up and running and you're using an Apple Airport, open the Applications folder, open Utilities, open Airport Utility.
If you're using any other type of WiFi router, use the Network Diagnostics button that should show up in the web browser window when you try to go to any website.
