Question about HP e-PC 42 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Hi, there, i have an old hp vectra vl400 mini tower system which requires a so-called power protection device to start, but this device has been removed by somebody. Is there a quick workaround possible to start without this? HP is not able or willing to ship a device - they say the system`s time of support in this way has expired. thanks a lot in advance!!! Your BIOS update is located here.

It is a flashable BIOS. Please read the Description tab and the Release Notes tab before you download and use BIOS upgrade.

If this helps, please show your support and rate me 4 thumbs up!

Bonjour mon ami... I am in Nuve Zealand.. You are going to need an older type card, if memory serves it needs to be AGP, These are a little old for things there days, and while they will output to a TV, the quality is NOT going to be very good... But in saying that you still get acceptable results, i would guess you will use XP SP2, as your OS? This will drive any card you choose well. I have included a link below to help you choose an AGP card, that suits your purpose and price range.. Bon Chance

Bios defult to erase system passowrd

You can only change supervisors password in BIOS by entering blans(spacebar) to reomove that password but you cant change your windows password. For that you will have to login with a different user and then delete/change the earlier password. Other repair the OS from its original disc and make sure where you enter the passwords....Do not try to add supervisor password in BIOS, thats very deceptive....sodeep

CPU is locked!

remove the battery from the unit and allow it sit for a couple of minutes then plug in the unit to power and see if it somes up. Removing battery and power often unlocks a unit. make sure hibernation is not causing problem. Once it comes up successfully, power off and reinstall the battery, try again. Some times a failed/failing battery can lock things
