SOURCE: I broke the lower blade guide

All I could find out is that your skil bandsaw is made by the Bosch Bench tool co in Mount Prospect, Il. The owners manual from skil shows the part you need as #6 lower blade guide, and Lowes does handle this line of Skil. I would suggest contacying Lowes or the store you bought this from and getting the consumer help phone number from them. They have to have this part available as I am seeing a lot of these units refurbished, so someone has the parts to them. Hope this helps and good luck. Marvin

SOURCE: I just bought a Skil Band Saw and it wants to cut

You probably just need to track the blade, pull all the guides back away from the blade and free wheel it by hand, tilt the blade into the center of the tires, if it doesn't center on both, one of them is off. When it centers, torque it up a little, then adjust the guides to the blade, don't push the blade out, just barely touch it, then it should track and cut straight. Good luck. Does this machine have a transmission for metal cutting? Or just one speed?

SOURCE: how to replace saw blade on skil saw

On the side of the saw in the center of the blade, there should be a bolt to remove that will get the blade off. Some saws have a special wrench needed to remove it, but since you have a Skil, you should be able to use either a 1/2" or 9/16" wrench or socket to take it loose and switch the blade out for one of your choice. Hope that helps.

Why can't the screw be tightened?

First of all, the blade has to be seated correctly on the spindle and the screw hand tightened to hold it in place. Next, a locking device such as a screwdriver has to be inserted crosswise between two teeth to prevent the blade from rotating. With the blade locked, the screw can be tightened. Finally, be sure to remove the locking device before operating the saw.

How to change a mitre saw blade

When changing the blade on your mitre saw the first step is to unplug the tool for safety reasons. DO NOT disassembly the safety cover, there is a bolt on the housing that when loosened allows the cover to be moved away from the blade to expose the spindle bolt. After moving the ASSEMBLY away from the blade turn the blade by hand slowly while pushing on the spindle lock to stop rotation. Loosen the blade bolt (usually left hand thread) and place the parts in the order removed, e.g. blade bolt outer flange, blade spacer if used. Reinstall blade noting the rotation of the teeth and replace parts in reverse order. After installation check for rotation by carefully turning the blade by hand and replace safety cover to its original position and tighten bolt.

Where is the blade lock on the skilsaw 5155

Hi Emory:
Your question made me think................
None of the skil saws that I have owned, or still have, came with a blade lock. Maybe yours has one, but if I needed to pin the blade while undoing the bolt, I'd do like I always did......... Unplug the saw....... and slip a carpenters pencil between the teeth and rotate the blade until the pencil came up against the deck.
There is also usually a hole in the blade, and a nail slipped through the hole makes a perfect blade lock.

How do you lock the blade to change it on a skilsaw model 5500

generally you put a screwdriver thru the hole in the saw blade and rotate blade until it stops against something and then remove bolt that holds blade on.

My saw stops rotating during cutting

does the motor stop? If not the gears are worn between armature and spindle. If it does stop you could be applying too much pressure trying to cut with a blunt blade or there is an armature fault.

How do you change the blade on a miter saw

first unplug the tool, raise the head and loosen the bolt that holds the lower guard in place. DO NOT disassemble the lower guard, pull it down and it will move out of the way somewhat. Next there is a spindle lock that you push in rotate the blade until locked and hold it while removing the hex bolt, which should be left hand thread, I would use a pair of gloves when holding the blade just for safety. Remove the outer flange and spacer (if needed) reassemble in the opposite order and before trying rotate the new blade by hand to make sure turns freely. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Sounds like you need to put a drop of clear sewing machine oil in the raceway of the hook. Then sew on some scrap material to soak up the excess oil.
