Question about Audio Players & Recorders
98 mustang. so my cd player stopped playing my cds a couple months ago been to busy at work to look at it just checked all my fuses pulled the negative line from the battery to reset everything cleaned the fuses nothing has worked wondering if its a lost cost and should just replace the unit with a new cd player really dont want to but i am running out of options.
I installed car audio equipment for over 38 year befor i (Retired) End all so am a (Certified) Electronic (Technician) It will cost you more to have it (Repaired) Then to just go out end buy a decent new one.

SOURCE: Cannot get music CD's to read.
The lens have a bad habit of falling out of the optic assemblies. They are held in with only a 2 dabs of glue. You can VERY CAREFULLY glue it back in. It is a plastic lens and affected badly by the wrong type of glue. Use a craft/modelling glue. DO NOT USE SUPER GLUE It will cloud the lens and render it useless.
APPLY SPARINGLY. Glue everywhere or on the face of the lens can easily destroy the coating.
This method works 4 out of 5 times without having to do the grating adjustments on the optics. And save you $100 for new optics and time to set them up. Good luck, and dont forget to rate me "FixYa" If you need more advice on these players... i have fixed hundreds of them. They are well worth repair and hard to replace with anything similar. .

The problem of "'no discs'"displayed is in the mechanism in the roller thats moving back and port bringing the lense set .The old grease thier is already hardened that cause the problem.Clean that by using a lighter fluid or like that fluid to take the old grease, and put it with a new one first class grease type-A grease put only a little grease and wipe the lense with a cotton buds without any chemicals on it .Try this solution so performance will be better.

Hi there, this lens may be dirty or it may have a thin layer of heat film that is causing it to not read in a consistent manner. i would try to clean the lens with a good CD lens cleaner. if the cleansing doesn't restore the lens to its original reading state, this will confirm lens assembly failure and you will need to replace this assembly.
