Unable to factory reset Lacie Ethernet Edmini V2

Hi, I am have tried many many times to reset my Lacie Edmini V2. I followed the instruction below but it didn't work. Could someone please help me? Is there another way to factory reset? (I am not able to access the Web Administration either) Kind regards, Bert "The button on the front of the drive can be pressed in a specific sequence. 1. Switch OFF the Ethernet Disk by holding the button until it begins flashing in a pattern. Release the button, and it will shut off shortly afterward. 2. Press and hold the power button. After a few seconds the light should begin to blink. Release the button. 3. Quickly after releasing the button (within ~3 seconds), the LED will blink, but at a different rhythm. Press and hold the button again. The light will switch to a third rhythm. Release the button. It is now using the factory-installed firmware."

So the hard drive is not (factory) resetting. Is there a another way to reset (to factory/default configuration) the hard drive? Has anyone experienced such a problem before? Kind regards, Bert.

SOURCE: powering up my Lacie ethernet disk 250

When I had this problem it turned out to be the power supply unit. Lacie replaced it - if you are out of warranty you can buy them for about £25 - and this solved the problem.

SOURCE: Can't restart, can't connect

I had a similar issue w/lacie ethernet bigdisk 1TB. Couldn't access drive, found that it was making the clackety clack drive death sound and was hot to the touch. Powered down and tried to restart but no blue light, apparently dead. It always ran hot. Pulled drives and connected directly to computer w/sata connector, drives tested good. Put all back together but still didn't work. Put in freezer overnight, pulled out and hooked up - was able to get blue light to come on but nothing else, no ethernet lights. Strange, the blue light would come on when I plugged the unit in, I didn't have to press the button, nothing wrong inside of case, but unit not really functioning. Also, as you said, I could only turn the light off by unplugging. FIX: As a last resort, I pulled the circuit board, baked it in the oven at 360 degrees F for 15 minutes, preheat oven to 360, immediately took the board from the oven to the freezer for 15 minutes. Put back together and the dang thing works perfectly now. I soldered the fan to the internal 12v line so it runs continuously and now it runs very cool. My guess is that the controller had a cold solder joint somewhere. Hind sight says I should have returned it to Lacie for a new one, I think they would have worked with me even though I opened the case.

SOURCE: Hello. I have a LACIE

I owned one just like this and the power supply failed at about 1 year. It turns out it's a fairly common problem. Since you have the device open, does the controlboard/motherboard look burnt at all?
If it is not damaged, you may be able to buy a replacement power supply here: http://www.lacie.com/products/range.htm?id=10030
If it is damanged, then you may still be under manufacturer warranty, contact Lacie here: 503-844-4503 sales@lacie.com
Please leave feedback for this answer, thanks.

Testimonial: "I have solved the problem, it's working now, it was a condensator in the controlboard that had leaked all the dielectric."

Your best bet is to contact LaCie and request a replacement CD-ROM for the setup utilities and an OS image for the server software. The alternative is to download the USB drivers (which model has an external SATA port?) and roll your own server. Most recent distros of Linux or FreeBSD should support the hardware, if you can figure out what CPU it needs to run on.

Good luck, and try to have fun with it. ;)

Value of the memory capacitor on the PCB of the LACIE EDmini v2

If the voltage and the farads are higher than the original it won't make any difference what you put in. They are not much greater than 47uf, if you think it's 10uf than put anything above that in. It will really depends on the physical size of the replacement. Get one they same size as the one that's gone and you can't really go wrong.

First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine. try it in different usb ports. Press windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc" then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it automatic install usb drivers. then check. Also you need to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11 CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} And remove upper filter and lower filter. Then restart computer then check. Also locate the below key and make sure it's value is 3 not 4. HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\usbstor make sure start value is 3 not 4. Let me know if you need further assistance. I cant see my external lacie hard drive on my mac. Was part of an ethernet network and able to use ok by 2 imacs and p. All of a sudden not visible anymore.

Just contact www.lacie.com great support. their answer for my drive was to upgrade the drive version and to reboot the drive. Maybe the last thing is enough. For me it worked.

If necessary update driver http://www.lacie.com/nl/support/drivers/driver.htm?id=10156

Follow the procedure below to reset the Network Space to factory defaults:
  1. Move the power switch to the OFF position. Wait for the drive to shut down.
  2. Turn ON the drive.
  3. Within about 3 seconds, flip the switch OFF and On several times.
  4. Immediately turn it ON
If the light flashes quickly, the unit is resetting itself. Attempt to connect to the drive again after about 1 minute using the default username and password (by default, they are both admin.)

It may not be getting enough power. Is there an external power supply you can plug in or another USB connector that can be plugged in to another port?
