Electric door locks

I can hear the solenoid switch when I activate the keyless door lock but the back doors do not lock

If you can see the lock (manual buttons) attempting to move, just spray the door latches with wd40 really well. I even open up the door panels abt once a year and just give a squirt into the rubber boots on the solenoids. These tend to rust and bind more because the rear doors are generally used less than are the fronts!

Door Lock System Components
The power door lock system consists of the following components:
• Driver door lock switch--Uses a single signal wire for both lock and unlock switch activations
• Front passenger door lock switch--Uses a single signal wire for both lock and unlock switch activations
• Body control module (BCM)--Class 2 module which requires programming when replaced
• Reversible door lock actuators in each of the doors
• Body control module PWR 15A fuse--Located in the body control module fuse panel, supplies power for the door lock system

Door Lock and Unlock Operation
The BCM PWR fuse supplies battery positive voltage to the BCM for the door lock system.
The BCM supplies and monitors a reference voltage to the door lock switch through the door lock switch lock/unlock signal circuit. The door lock switch also receives a constant ground source. If a door lock switch is placed in the lock position, the reference voltage is taken directly to ground and the BCM senses 0.0 volts on the signal circuit. If a door lock switch is placed in the unlock position, the reference voltage is taken to ground through a 1.5K ohm resistor that is internal to the door lock switches and senses approximately 2.9 volts on the signal circuit. This is how the BCM determines what portion of the door lock switch was activated.
The BCM, upon receipt of a door lock switch lock or unlock signal, will switch the appropriate door lock actuator control circuits to battery positive voltage. The opposing side of the door lock actuators are connected to ground internally within the BCM through the other door lock actuator control circuit and the doors will lock or unlock appropriately.
Vehicles without keyless entry have two internal drivers in the BCM to control the door lock actuators. All door lock and all door unlock. Vehicles equipped with keyless entry have three internal drivers in the BCM. Driver door unlock, passenger door unlock and all door lock. This is done to isolate the driver door lock actuator so it can be unlocked by itself using the keyless entry transmitter.

The keyless entry system consists of the following components:
  • driver door module (DDM)
  • keyless entry transmitter

The driver door module (DDM) receives inputs from the digital transmission range (TR) sensor, ignition switch, brake switch, window/door lock switches, lighting control module (LCM), keyless entry keypad switch and remote transmitter. Did you program the new key fob ?

Remote Transmitter Programming NOTE: All remote transmitters are programmable and must be set at the same time.
  1. Turn the key from OFF to RUN four times within three seconds, ending in RUN. The locks will then lock and unlock, confirming program mode has been entered.
  1. Press any button on each remote transmitter to be programmed. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
  1. If additonal remote transmitters are to be programmed, repeat Step 3 within 7.5 seconds or steps 2 and 3 if more than 7.5 seconds have elapsed.
  1. To exit program mode, turn the ignition to START or wait 7.5 seconds.
  1. NOTE: Failure to wait at least 20 seconds will cause programming failures. Wait at least 20 seconds after turning the key to OFF or after the last remote transmitter has been programmed to activate a remote transmitter for testing or verification

No electric power to left door Fuse and relay are good

Check the wire lume that runs from the body to the door inside a rubber bellow. the wires can break from constant moving and I'm not sure what vehicle you have, but this is a defect for a few vehicles out there the wire can be to short in some cases from cost saving manufacturing. It may be necessary to remove the door panel and remove the harness through the wire opening to be able to move the boot far enough to access the broken wire or even just to check it in some cases.
How I like to repair it, is to put a new wire through the entire pivot point and join it inside the door and body where the wire does not move constantly.

Not sure if lock has solenoid or electric motor, but either way, can you hear clicks or any prominent sounds from the door whilst trying to unlock it? you may need to put your ear on the door, if no sound, then wiring needs to be checked, then motor or solenoid, if you do hear similar sounds to the other door then the mechanical part of the lock mechanism has failed and may require a kit or replacement.

Power locks wont lock doors with switch

All doors? Check the fuse...see owner's manual for info. Also verify that it is the vehicle's lock switches...or the keyless entry fob. If it is a single door, this can be a tricky difficult ordeal to find the "source" of the problem.
The difficulty is due to the fact that the negative/positive wires reverse polarity at door lock relays each time the lock is electrically exercised. The locks are activated by an electromagnet solenoid, which reverse when the supply current reverses polarity. For example, you may be able to lock a door with the switch then not be able to unlock it...or vice versa. If one of the wires has a fault, and the door locked [or unlocked], the relay was also "tripped/switched" with the "good" wire. When that happened, the relay effectively reversed the wire polarities...meaning that the faulty wire cannot energize the relay/solenoid to activate the lock-unlocking mechanism to reverse the process..

Simply, put...this is not likely a do-it-yourself fix, unless you have fair DC electrical skills, and a shop manual with complete wiring diagrams. The problem could be a poor wire connection, a broken wire, a faulty relay, a faulty solenoid, or a combination of these...or even a physical fault in the mechanical linkage for the lock.

If your vehicle has a locking lifting hatch back...and this is the "door" that won't operate, this can be very aggravating as there is no manual override, without removing the door/hatch trim and manually moving the linkage.

Hopefully it is the fuse.....good luck.

Driver door electric lock not working

lock solenoid is either bad or disconnected.
to check -- open the door and when you press the door lock button, can you hear the solenoid popping ?? if you hear the solenoid popping then the linkage most likely has a broken clip and needs to be re-attached using a new clip. but if you do not hear the solenoid then the problem is either a bad solenoid, a loose wire or a bad door lock switch. if you remove the door panel - use a volt meter to check for voltage and trace the problem.

My power door locks stopped working. When I press

The locks don't work from any switch or just the driver's door switch ? The door locks are controlled by the BCM - body control module , that's were the clicking you hear is coming from there are no fuse's that are marked for the locks , fuse's for the BCM .

2002 toyota celica power door lock problem

Are you hearing any noises from the pass door when you activate the lock switch? If not, the power door lock solenoid has failed, and prob needs to be replaced. Pull the door panel & check to see if it is getting power to the solenoid in lock & unlock. If it has power, the solenoid is def bad.
