SOURCE: Freezer works but fridge does not cool..please help

Ther are several things that can cause this, one a bad evaparator fan or an defrost problem. Look on the back of the freezer wall and see if there is a lot of frost. If there is then it's a defrost problem and the part most likely is a bad termination thermostat also known as a bi-metal. If there is not a lot of frost, check to see that you have air going to the refrigerator section. If not then it could be the fan.

SOURCE: kenmore fridge not getting cold

first thing to heck would be the condenser fan motor which is located int the compressor compartment pull the refrig away form the wall remove cardboard cover and inspect the fan motor that you will see. check for obstruction or if the fan motor is seized. if this motor fails it will cause the compressor to run extremely hot then shut off on internal motor protector. if you determine the motor is bad you can place a house fan behind unit blowing on compressor area to keep unit working until you get it repaired.
Thanks Peyton

SOURCE: My kenmore refrigerator side by side

All the cooling takes place in the freezer and is blown over to the frig side so the frig side will start to warm up soon. Possible cause is the starting device to the compressor is faulty, compressor motor locked up or cold control faulty and not closing.

Hi, I have a kenmore coldspot 106.56152500 and the fridge has stopped working. I can hear it running but it is not cooling at all. The freezer is still working, however, not as cold as it should be. I...

Yes the most likely reason for not defrosting is your=> W10135901 Defrost Control Board

7_5_2012_4_41_18_pm.jpg

The defrost control board can be found inside the fresh food compartment behind the control panel where you adjust temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer. To gt to the control board you need to unplug the refrigerator and disassemble the control panel. Look over the control board sometimes you may see signs of heat damage but not always. If you have questions I will be here so please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze

Refrigerator not cooling. doesn't seem like fan is blowing. freezer still working

all that happens is the cold air from the freezer gets blown into the fridge section by the evap fan motor brhind the inside back wall of the freezer so if you open the freezer door and don't hear the fan blowing i would say that yes you do have a bad evap fan motor and that's why the fridge section is warm.next time send the brand name and model number so i can help you better

What would cause the airflow to stop to fridge when freezer door is closed? (kenmore model 106)

Ice in the path of air flow to fridge. The freezer also kkeps the fridge cold via a fan that blows the cold air from feezer to fridge.

I have a Frigidaire FRC150FF fridge, the fridge light comes on but the fridge is warm. The frezzer compartment is working fine

How old is the fridge? Can you hear it running?
It could me many things. Could be anything from a dead compressor to a coolant leak.

Did someone change thermostat setting, maybe during a cleaning? There's a knob in the refrigerator section somewhere; see if it's turned to "Off" or to a less-than-cold setting.

If you hear the motor running, but it doesn't get cold, it probably doesn't have any refrigerant to compress. That could be recharged, but modern refrigerators are pretty tight, so that would also indicate a leak. With a leak, it will need recharging again sometime later.

Refrigerator side is barely cool. Defrost light on for over a week, but unit is self defrosting??? why is ref section cooler not performing?

you have a defrost problem?all a fridge does is blow cold air from the freezer to the fridge section, when you open the freezer door you should hear the fan blowing, under the fan there's the evap coil, this is what makes everything cold,if it doesn't defrost it gets covered with ice and then you have problems or on some models there's a damper and the door doesn't open stopping the cold air from blowing into the fridge section.you'll need a meter, pull out all the food in freezer, remove all shelves and then remove the inside back wall of the freezer.with a hair dryer melt out all the ice, then find the bad part, defrost thermostat, defrost heater, bad timer or board depending on the modelwith the meter you can check the parts.also if you look down at the bottom kickplate, pull the kickplate off and look for a tech sheet,it will tell you how to put the machine into defrost, also next time send the model number so i can see what model you have,if you have a timer advance it and see if the heater comes on,also it doesn't hurt to change out the thermostat while you're in there and alot of times this is the problem, you can cut the two wires going to the thermostat located on top of the evap coil, connect them bypassing the thermostat, put the fridge into defrost, listen for a crackling sound,if you hear this the heater is on and you'll know the thermostat is bad, call your parts store, give them the model number and they will sell you the correct thermostat,if the heater doesn't come on remove the heater on the bottom and read it out with the meter,if it's not a glass heater most likely the heater will be good but check it anyway with the meter.if that's good then most likely you'll have a board problem depending on the model.hope this helps and good luck.

Ice maker stopped working, plus fridge not cold, but freezer o.k.

I would check that fan motor in the freezer section is running. it distributes cold air from freezer into refrig section also if this motor is running the top portion of freezer will not get cold enough to allow ice production. the motor is easy to repl and is mod# specific you should be able to buy one online.
