SUPER S4SCA Over Heat beep code

I ger OVER HEAT BEEP CODE But all fans are working and computer seems to be working fine, any idea why?

Dust build up in CPU fan. Blow out with canned air.
There may be a heat level setting in BIOS? Or, even software that came with motherboard.

Laptop beep code problem


Hi,laptops beep codes is not so popular and every manufacturer use their own beeps,try these ways:
1-if you can log in to windows so try to get some software from internet to check all hardware in your laptop mother board,
2-if cant log in to windows try to see your cpu or graphic card fan works properly
3-may be its heat problem
4-may be checking battery failed
5-may be some bios data change incorrectly
6-may be dust problem(between your hardware and their slots is too dusty and get them unconnected in somewhere)

When a computer is booted up its BIOS, it performs a power-on self test, also known as POST, to test and verify the computers hardware and to make sure all components are working properly. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to determine which component has failed on a particular beep code and give you an idea on where to start for troubleshooting.

The exact meaning of the beep codes depends on the type and version of BIOS that you have. The three most popular types of BIOS are those made by Award, American Megatrends (AMI) and Phoenix. If you are using a PC made by a company that writes its own BIOS, e.g. DELL, HP, etc, you will have to consult your PC user's manual or the company's web site for assistance.

1 long, 2 short = Video adapter error

Troubleshooting: Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly.

Repeating (endless loop) = Memory error

Troubleshooting: Check for improperly seated or missing memory. Reseat the memory if you can.

1 long, 3 short = No video card or bad video RAM.

Troubleshooting: Reseat or replace the video card.

High frequency beeps while running = Overheated CPU

Troubleshooting: Check the CPU fan for proper operation. Check the case for proper air flow.

Repeating High/Low = CPU failure.Either the CPU is not seated properly or the CPU is damaged. May also be due to excess heat.

Troubleshooting: Check the CPU fan or BIOS settings for proper fan speed.

Old Hp Pavilion 763n PC, cleaned it out thoroughly, replaced power supply, redid heat sink with silver paste, and added RAM. It worked fine, little slow, but working for about three days and now nothing....


Here is a listing. From what I read, it seems to me the problem is in the CPU and that it is overheating. This can be caused by a multitude of issues but first ensure the CPU fan is running. Second, if you applied too much siver heat sink, this can cause overheating as well. Make sure you only have a thin layer between the CPU and the heatsink. Hope this helps.

My computer cannot boot because of long beep


beep code usually means a basic function was unable to start. A basic function might be reading memory, displaying video, or being able to send information to a hard drive. The most common problems that cause beep codes are memory and heat-related failures caused by a build-up of dust in critical cooling areas. Use the beep code tables in this document to help find what hardware component is causing the problem. This might reduce the time required to find the hardware component that needs adjusted, reseated, or replaced. WARNING: HP recommends that these steps be performed only by someone with experience in working on computer hardware. Incorrectly handling sensitive internal components can further damage the computer and can introduce the risk of personal injury. Using the correct environment for working on computers (ESD precautions and tools), use the following steps to isolate and fix the problem:
  1. Turn on the computer.
  2. Listen to the beep code and write it down. Write down the number of beeps before each pause, if the beeps are long, short, high in tone, or low in tone. You can use the other sections in this document to look up the beep code description. The beep code and its description can be used for further Internet research if needed.
  3. Note which fans are spinning, not spinning, or making strange noises. It might be possible to prevent the beep code by setting the fan speed to a higher setting in the BIOS setup utility or by cleaning the cooling fins and vents.

    1. Turn off the computer by holding the power button for five seconds.
    2. Disconnect the power cord and then disconnect all external cords from the computer.
    3. Remove the side panel to open the computer.
    4. If the case fan was not spinning, make sure the case fan power cable is connected to the correct pins on the motherboard. Replace the fan if it was making excessive noise or was not spinning. If you had to plug in or replace the fan, replace the side panel, plug in the power cord and turn on the computer. If the beeps continue, continue to the next step.
  6. Disconnect the power cord and remove the side panel and perform each of the following tasks, in order, until the beeping stops. Before starting each task, unplug the power cord and remove the side panel. After completing a task, replace the side panel, connect the power cord, turn on the computer, and listen for a beep code. NOTE: If removing or disconnecting a hardware component prevents the beep code, that component is probably causing the problem. However, a failed motherboard might produce beep codes associated with a component other than the motherboard.
    1. Clean cooling components that have become clogged with dust. If beeping continues, continue to the next step.
    2. Remove a memory module. If the computer stops beeping, the memory module might be bad, is the wrong type of memory for the motherboard, or was not fully seated or connected. Reinsert the memory into the socket to see if a connection was the problem; otherwise replace the module. Remove each memory module, replacing the one that was previously removed. If beeping continues after checking all the memory modules, continue to the next step.
    3. If the computer has a graphics adapter, remove it. If the beep code changes or continues with the same beep pattern after removing the graphics adapter, the adapter might still be good. Reseat the graphics adapter into its socket and continue to the next step. If the beep code goes away, the graphics adapter might be bad. Try reseating the graphics adapter, making sure it is fully locked into the connector on the motherboard. If problems continue, replace the adapter.
    4. Remove a PCI card. If the beep code goes away, the card might be bad. Try reseating the card into its connector on the motherboard. If problems continue, replace the card. Remove each PCI card, replacing the one that was previously removed. After checking all cards, if beeping continues, continue to the next step.
    5. Disconnect hard drives and CD or DVD drive cables (IDE and ATA) from the motherboard socket. If the beep code goes away, the cable or socket is probably bad. Look for bent pins inside the IDE socket on the motherboard and straighten any bent pins. Try reseating the cables into the connectors. If problems continue, the drive itself might be bad and might need replacing. Disconnect each drive cable, replacing the one that was previously disconnected, until all have been checked. After checking all connections, if beeping continues, continue to the next step.
    6. At this point, the problem is probably the motherboard or processor. Make sure any jumpers on the motherboard have not fallen off their pins and into the case. Make sure jumpers are set correctly. Otherwise, have the computer serviced by HP or by a qualified service center.

Abit av8 bios post codes 8.3 - 8.6 - 9.c What is failing on boot ? I get one long beep followed by 4 short beeps. I have swapped video cards and reflashed the bios with no help. If I reboot 2 or 3...


I still did not find beep code that match your problem..

Anyways here are the common beep codes for your motherboard.. it might help you too.
1. No beep - no reaction, the mother board is dead, power supply problem, processor and or ram problem.
2. 1beep - board is working fine.
3. One long beep then it shuts down - cpu problem, your processor is not working or missing.
4. 1short beep - system boots normally
5. 2short beeps - CMOS setting error.
6. 1long 1short beep - dram error
7. 1long 2 short beep - video card or monitor not connected
8. 1long 3 short beep - keyboard error.
9. 1long 9short beep - ROM error
10. Long beep - memory card is missing or not connected
11. Short beep - power supply error
12 Four beeps - there is no fan detected on Fan1 or Fan2 header. make sure to attach or reset CMOS bios to factory setting.

I have a Lenovo A61 Thinkcentre that is about one year old. I am now hearing a fairly loud noise that comes and goes. When the system starts, the noise appears and lasts 10 - 20 minutes, then disappears....


Ok it still sounds like an fan. look for fans, one in power supply, one on cpu, one in case(frount or back), one on video card. before you start from cold unplug the fans that you can. and stop the one in power supply. then if there is no nosie you have to start pluging them back in till you hear the noise. **NOTE!!** don't run it long without fans!!( 40 secs) is long enough..

Computer does not fire up. I do have steady green light on power supply. All motherboard connections appear to be tight.I have come home before to a beeping noise in the past. After resetting the machine...


That beeping noise may be due to over heating.
Most machines today have a temperature setting that will turn the machine off once the temperature reaches a certain point.
Safety feature to avoid damaging your cpu and components.
The shut down and restarting allows the CPU to cool down briefly.
Thus allowing you to start the machine again. Usually it will shut down again once the temperature threshold is again reached.
Good test is let the machine sit for 30 min. If it immediately starts up and shuts down a few minutes later. Heat build is usually the problem.

Typically this is due to heat sink or Fan on the computer CPU.
Check to be sure both are connected to the CPU and functioning.
If you have a fan on top of the heat sink above the CPU. Make sure it is working correctly. Dust build up over time will eventually kill the fan bearings or reduce airflow. Heat sink can and will become clogged with dust also. Replacement fans are easy to find. Heat sinks are even easier to clean.
Depending on your machine and CPU position replacing the fan can be a challenge. But can be done in a few minutes with minimum tools.

Each bios has different post codes and it is difficult to tell what is happening with out knowing the bios of your particular machine. Listen for the beeps and check your computer manual.
You can also google for this. Here is a web site that lists a few bios P.O.S.T codes.

Once you know the beep sequence you can look it up. Usually points to the problem and you can go from there.

I'm getting an electronic beep sound at times, when it happens it sounds about every 30 seconds to a minute. I've turned the sound off and I still hear it, so it's not coming from any programs. Any ideas?


Your hearing an error code of some sort. Look in your owners manual , in the troubleshooting guide it will translate the code for you. Listen for the pattern to match up with the problem.
