If you are using XP, click on Start on the bottom LHS of your monitor and then click on 'Network Connections'. In the box tha appears on screen you will see a list of your network adapters. Right click on the adapter that says Local Area Connection, Connected and in the small drop down list click on stutus. You will then see a box with 2 tabs, General and Support, click on Support and you will see your IP Address, Subnet Mask and your Default Gateway. If you are using Vist, its much the same procedure except you click on Network, then click on 'Network and Sharing Centre' and then over on the left side under Tasks, click on 'Manage Network Connections'. From there its basically the same procedure as in Win XP. You can also access the same info by right clicking the little network icon on the task bar and do as above in Vista and XP.

I have a xbox 360 tryin to get on the xbox live but wont let me

1. go into your modem through internet browser and type in ip address...(type find my ip address in google if you dont know it).
2. Enter username/password...("admin" is usually the username/password by default...if you cant get in, there is a reset button on your modem...very small...might need a pin to poke inside...PUSH AND HOLD IN FOR 30SECONDS and repeat step 1 and carry on from there).
3. Find these settings in the modem: -LOCAL NETWORK / UPNP......enable it -DMZ HOST.......type in your ip address you typed in to get into your modem....(you might not have DMZ which is even better so don't worry about it).
-VIRTUAL SERVERS/PORTFORWARDING.....type in the following:select custom service or name and type in i.e XBOX360 AND TYPE THESE IN:Port start 3074 port end 3074 and TCP protocolPort start 27014 port end 27050 and TCP protocolPort start 3074 port end 3074 and UDP protocolPort start 3478 port end 4380 and UDP protocolPort start 27000 port end 27030 and UDP protocol
5. reboot modem.
6. Go in XBOX network settings and in basic settings manually type an ip address that is within your dhcp range...( dont worry what this means just follow the example) to your normal ip address i.e if your ip address is then you would use etc, in subnet mask and your main ip address in gateway.
7. DNS settings should be automatic.
8. reboot XBOX you are ready to go.

Xbox connected through network cable to pc ! what do i need to perform on pc through my wireless usb port connected to go online

If you are running Windows Vista on your PC here is how you can route your XboX360 through your PC/Laptop in order to get on Xbox Live Wirelessly:

1. Set up a Static IP address in Vista. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connections

2. Right-click on Local Area Connection and go to Properties

3. Double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4)

4. Set the option to "Use the following IP address"

IP Address:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway: blank

5. Just to be safe, also set the options to "Use the following DNS Server Address"

(You may use your ISPs DNS entries also, these are just the OpenDNS ones that should work for everyone)

6. Under the "advanced" tab, you need to check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."

7. Right-click on your wireless connection, go to properties, click the "advanced" tab and check the same box to allow other users to share the connection.

8. On your Xbox360 go to the network configuration menu and enter the following settings:

IP address:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway:

Now you should be able to get on the internet with your Xbox as it will be using your PC/Laptop's wireless connection.

Ps3 throws my xbox 360 off line. why

Could be an IP conflict.
For example say on your network the xbox is, then if your ps3 has the same IP address, when you turn it on it makes an IP conflict over your network and one has to go, and usually the newer powered on device kicks off the original item.
Quick way to fix this if it is indeed an IP issue is to manually change one of the IP addresses, from the PS3 or Xbox360. its more easy to manually set the IP of the xbox360 then it is the ps3.

Cant get on to xbox live using wired connection

If you are connecting the system directly to your Broadband Modem than your ISP may have your regularly connected computer's MAC address logged in their system. Generally only Cable Modem companies do this, so to see if that is the problem do the following:

1. Locate your Cable Modem

2. Flip it upside down and locate the MAC address, it should look like this:

3. Write down the MAC address

4. Now turn on your Xbox360 and go to the network configuration menu.

5. find the part that says CLONE MAC ADDRESS and then put in the MAC address you wrote down.

6. after the settings have been entered back out to the main menu, and power off, then power back on your Xbox360, you should be able to get on line now.

When testing the connection for xbox live it can't find the IP address.

Xbox 360 Connection Tests: IP Address
This test verifies that your Xbox 360™ console has a valid IP (Internet Protocol) address.
If your console does not pass this test:

Confirm that there are no other devices on your network with the same IP address.

If you are using a router or gateway, verify that it is configured to assign IP addresses to network devices (DHCP-enabled).

If you are connected to a router, make sure that your console'sEthernet cable is not connected to the router's LAN port rather thanits WAN port.

If you are connected directly to a modem and your ISP (Internetservice provider) requires PPPoE settings, verify that your PPPoE username and password are correct. If your ISP doesn't require PPPoEsettings, remove the PPPoE user name and password settings.

If you are connecting directly to a modem and have replaced a devicethat was connected to your modem with your Xbox 360 console or anotherdevice, turn the modem off and back on before connecting the newdevice.

If you are using a static IP address from your ISP, verify the address with a your provider.

If your console is connected to an ad-hoc network (in which devicesare connected directly to each other), it will probably not pass thistest. If your IP address is assigned automatically and your ad-hocnetwork does not include a DHCP server, this does not indicate aproblem. The test is properly reporting that a DHCP server could not becontacted. Xbox Customer Support does not support the use of ad-hocnetworking to connect to Xbox Live.

If you're using an ad-hocnetwork without a DHCP server and you can't connect to Xbox Live, checka different diagnostic test for the root of your problem.

This comes from

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Right ip adress in xbox360 but it keeps failing..?

You don't set the IP address (You can but that's a whole nother story, IP address' have to be unique to the device), you need to let your router assign one automatically. Two devices on the same network can't have the same IP address or it will fail to function completely.

Getin online for my xbox360

xbox live is pissy.

You need 2 seperate live accounts for each one ot go online.

You can't use one account on both. Their servers know.

Other then that, as long as its hooked into a router and there's no ip conflicts, you shouldn't have a problem.
