The files that are missing are critical Windows files. BOOT files. You need to install the Windows CD again, and choose Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation )  IF, it isn't the Windows CD that belongs to the computer it isn't going to work, UNLESS it is a fresh, new GENUINE copy you obtained. Also check to see if the disk is dirty, and/or the laser optical eye in the optical drive.

You need to run the Windows XP recovery console.. Should be on the XP CD..
Configure your BIOS to boot order your CD ROM drive first.. Have the disk in
the CD drive when you reboot, and choose the Recovery console from the menu..
Once it's loaded, and it asks which Windows Installation you would like to
access, choose the right one (usually # 1), then enter the ADMINISTRATOR
password then you'll be at a command prompt... There, you can view the
directory of the C: and the C:\windows folders, as well as the contents of
the XP disk in your CD drive.. you'll need to copy the "NTLDR.dll" file to
the Root directory, usually C:\ .. Reboot, if no succes you have to reinstall windows again.
Please make a copy of the 25 digit code.

Here you can download all the drivers

The file needs to be unziped

Good luck

Fixing HAL.DLL Missing or Corrupt

If you get an error regarding a missing or corrupt hal.dll file, it might simply be the BOOT.INI file on the root of the C: drive that is misconfigured
  1. Insert and boot from your WindowsXP CD.
  2. At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
  3. Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair.
    Typically this will be #1
  4. Type bootcfg /list to show the current entries in the BOOT.INI file
  5. Type bootcfg /rebuild to repair it
  6. Take out the CD ROM and type exit

Error message NTLDR missing on formatted hard drive

You need to either reinstall windows, or take the hard drive out, hook it up as a spare drive to a working computer and copy NTDLR to the root of the laptop hard drive. It would be much easier to reinstall windows. You can always use the recovery portion of Windows, but if I were you I would just do a format and reinstall. NTDLR is just a startup file for Windows XP, that does not mean your hard drive is gone or anything. Please don't forget to rate!..Thanks

Missing or corrupt \system32\hal.dll

You didn't need to replace the hard drive if there is a missing NTLDR file, it just means that the boot sector is missing or corrupt. You can fix it by putting in your WinXP CD, and choosing REPAIR.(This is known as the Recovery Console and it's in DOS just to warn you...) Then you can type the following at the dos prompt: fixmbr - Fixes corrupt master boot record fixboot - Fixes corrupt boot sector bootcfg /rebuild - Fixes corrupt or missing boot.ini
