How to enable WAN IP in a DI-604 Router for 3 computers

Hi,
I have 3 computers, using DI-604 router
configuration is set to WAN -> Dynamic PPPOE
and i have 3 DHCP for the 3 computers 192.168.0.101,192.168.0.102,192.168.0.103

Currently the WAN IP only works with 192.168.0.101.
I want to make the WAN IP work with 192.168.0.102.

I understand that I have to use PPPOE to make my IP ADDRESS detected for the public.

I've also noticed that there can be only one DHCP address for the WAN IP

Thanks alot for your help :)

Yeah I have username and password for access to internet

My WAN ip can ONLY access the computer with the lan ip 192.168.0.101
I want the WAN IP to access the computer with LAN ip 192.168.0.102

If you take a look at the screen shot. There's only one mac adress in the WAN IP section, and that mac address represents the LAN IP 192.168.0.101.

Well, I wanna make the 2nd pc a server but it isn't accessible through the WAN ip.

    Thanks again.

Are you really wanting to open up access to all three of your computers from the internet?
Your ISP gave you a userrname and pasword for access to the internet?

I think you may be a little confused by WAN and LAN.

The WAN is basically (in your case) the internet, the LAN is your internal network. The LAN can use the 192.168.0.101, 102, 103 addresses but the WAN cannot (unless there is another device between the DI-604 and your provider). 192.168.x.x is one of the reserved IP ranges that cannot be used directly on the internet.

The other problem is, according to your description, the WAN IP AND one of the 3 computers has the same IP address.

Therefore your WAN IP cannot be 192.168.0.101.

The DI-604 will have 2 IP addresses, on the internet side it will be something other than 192.x.x.x, on the LAN side Im willing to bet it is actually 192.168.0.1

What is the problem you are trying to solve, why are you attempting to do this.

"I wanna make the 2nd pc a server but it isn't accessible through the WAN ip. "

Well that explains everything. If you want to get to 192.168.0.102 from the internet, you need to tell the router where to send packets. You do this by going to the ADVANCED section and configuring Virtual Servers. For example: If you are setting up the computer at 102 as a ftp server, ftp uses port 21. The name would be FTP, private IP would be 192.168.0.102, Protocol is TCP, and the Private and Public ports would normally both be 21. Don't forget to Enable the rule.

What this does is tell the router that when ever a request comes in on port 21, it should forward it to 192.168.0.102. To access the external side of the router you need to go to 70.55.84.233 (according to the image you posted)

WHEN I DIRECT MY INTERNET WIRE I CAN CONNECT BUT WHEN CONNECTING IT TO ROUTER I GET LIMITED CONNECTIVITY.

It means that the router is not configured yet. First, you have make sure that your internet wire is connected to the WAN port of your router and the computer should be connected to one of the LAN ports of your router.

Check the LEDs. Be sure that the LEDs for WAN and LAN where your computer is connected to is lit up or blinking (will depend on the brand and model number of the router).

Then you need to access the Web Utility of the router to set it up correctly. You need to refer to the manual of your router. Having a router does not mean that it will work immediately once you connect your internet or modem to it. It needs configuration.

You may also contact the tech support of your router (since the brand was not provided) for assistance

Thank you!

Cant connect the d-link website after ip replacement.

Hello,

Have you tried to reset your router? If not, do so. It will reset everything to factory default.

To reset, look for a hole near the ports, where it says RESET. Use a pointed object such as a paper clip.

Hope it helps.

I cannot find the WAN connection..Where should the blue cord connect...I just placed it in the WAN jack on the hub..

If you want a WAN you need a router, and not a HUB.

If you have a switch, and you want to work with fixed IP addresses, you can do this but it will get involved with using gateways and etc.

The easiest way is to get a router, and set everything up with DHCP.

Internet problem connection.....

your computer has been set up to be the PPPoE account holder for the modem. if you have a router, you will need to configure the router to login to the ISP account using the PPPoE information so that your router is the account holder for the modem, then you will be able attach multiple computers to the internet using the router.

D Link 604 will not connect to internet

Hi Goldy,

The 604 should setup easily. Make sure you have it set to automatically get IP if you are using Cable, and for PPPOE if you are using DSL.
Once you have it setup. Shut down everything. Plug in the modem, wait 2 min. This allows the modem to get the info it needs from your ISP. Then bootup the 604. Wait 2 min, for it to get the info it needs from the modem, then boot up your computers.
Got to start>run and type in CMD. In the black box that opens, type in IPCONFIG. Your IP listed should be 192.168.x.x. THe X's can be any number from 1 to 253. If the IP is 169.xxx.x.x, you are not getting data from the 604. Check your firewalls, expecially if you are using a third party one, like Norton.

Good luck!
