Question about LG Televison & Video
I have an LG flatron 21'' golden eye crt tv whose model number is 21fg3rge-a9. I want to connect this to my acer aspire 4736z laptop to use the tv as a monitor. Now., the laptop has a vga port and the tv has rgb (ypbpr) port, so i use a vga to 3rgb cable to connect the two and for sound i have used a 3.5mm jack to rca connector going from the audio output of the laptop to the tv. Now the tv has got at it back 9 ports. First row is YpBPr then avi1 out and then in both yellow, white, red colored , 9 in total. I inserted the 3rgb in YpBPr and audio in the last two ports whereit says audio in. and both YpBPr and the last two ports are shown as one COMPONENT. so i assume i hooked it up right but it doesn't show anything other than dirty purple lines that change color every now and then. I've tried changing my tv mode to component to video and normal but to no joy. Do you guys think that my laptop is faulty or i need an upgrade. It also had got an hdmi option but i am not too sure if the tv will pick it up and also that i've spent good $50 on it i want it to work PLS help
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

No, this will not work. Picture will roll vertically. Originally they intended for HDTV to be red, green, blue, & Horizontal, Vertical sync. That changed after the first generation mitsubishi's.
In the service menu you can change the settings for the HDTV Input. Try that first by "Hitting menu button followed by 1259" or menu 1257. Let me know how that works for you, If you need a different code for service menu...contact me again and i will look it up for you. But the answer to your question is you can make it work or you can purchase a 300.00 box that will allow you to switch to that input thru..mitsubishi.tv.com
Good luck and keep me posted. GURU JAY

Hi. You could look up reviews. I personally usually never offer advice on choices, because what I like, may not be what you like..its a matter of personal preference. But in this particular case, I'd go for Panasonic. Why? Better features, better service, easier availability of parts, and better resolution.Plus some nice features. If this answers your question, PLEASE don't forget to rate as fixed. I'd really appreciate it. Enjoy your new tube!!!

If your computer has a svga output use input 7 on tv with vga to vga cable and 3.5-3.5 Radioshack 42-2387 cable for audio for best results. If you use the dvi to hdmi on input 6 on tv use 3.5- rca Radioshack part number 42-2551 1/8=3.5mm.

Ive got 3 samsung tv's (lcd, plasma, DLP) and I use HDMI cables on all of them. Its the only way to get the full potential out of the tv. When you use the red/white/yellow RCA cables the signal is anolog aka "old technology". Component cables are good but HDMI is the best. HDMI is a digital signal and thats what all the components that go with the tv should be run on. If your dvd player does not have an HDMI output I would suggest getting one that has that output. As for the cable box most require you to upgrade to digital cable in order to get one with an HDMI output. If you dont want to spend the money on new components and run what you have now the picture will stay mediocre at best. Good luck hope this helped
