Resetting your leappad ultra isa breeze. First thing you need to do is to download and install Leapfrog connect. If it doesn`t download, there`s an offline download option available. After installing it, connect your leappad ultra with the usb cable to the pc. power it on. it should get connected. If it doesn`t maybe your anti virus software is blocking it. If this happens, go to your antivirus software settings and under firewall rules, select allow for leapfrog connect .exe. Then it should detect your leappad ultra. Go to left hand top corner , select My Products. Then select your leappad ultra. Then goto Settings on the right top corner and in the pop up, select Reset. It will take around 15 - 20 mins to reset it. All data will be erased. Hope it helps http://youtu.be/dnyle_-2aDYw

The two responses to this question have nothing to do with the question! I have a similar problem. I have a brand new Tag, connected and uploaded books just fine, but in my case it doesn't say any name when turned on/off.
The Eject button appears when a Leapster2 handheld is connected and
turned on. When you have finished configuring the Leapster2 handheld and
your child wants to play with it, you can click the Eject button to
disconnect the device. Once ejected, a message will appear letting you
know that it is safe to disconnect the Leapster2 handheld from the
computer. It is not really a "button" but a picture of a green button which says "EJECT". It should be located on the upper right corner of your screen.
This will happen if the RF transmitter and RF receiver cannot communicate with each other. Make sure that the see-thru red plastic cover on the front of the keyboard is not being blocked by anything and that it has a clear, straight path to the see-thru red plastic on the front of the game console. I know my son keeps getting mad at his when it won't work, but it's because he either turns the keyboard so it can't "see" the game console or he puts something (like a pillow) in front of the keyboard. Hope this helps.
the screen needs to be re-calibrated. Do this: while powering on the Leapster, hold down the ? key. If it's been worn off, it's the round key on the left hand side above the t-arrow keys and it's the middle button. A new screen will come up that lists Base Info Cart 1 Info, Cart 2 Info, Cart 3 Info. In the right hand corner is a "A" that you can touch with pen beside it, it says "Touch Calib" Touch on that.It will say starting...then in the upper left hand corner there is a +. touch it with pen. it will move to bottom left hand corner. Touch it with pen. It will move to right bottom corner. touch with pen. It will move to upper right hand corner. Touch with pen. It will move to the center of the screen. Touch with pen. Repeat until you come back to the Base Info screen. You're DONE! Power off and on again and you should be all set! Good luck!!
OK ... after a lot of trial and error, I got mine to work. I think it may be a really low charge or something. I had to press the power button until it was completely dark ... no flashing faint green or any colors. Then when I plugged it in, I got a solid red and left it for awhile. Then when I pressed the power button I got yellow, red and green ... the computer recognized it and then got a solid yellow.
Before when I had it plugged in, I'd get a lot of red random flashing ... and it just didn't seem to charge at all ... even after a full day.
I think the issue was that it was in this "flashing state (red when connected, very faint green when disconnected)" It wasn't easy to get it to turn off completely. Most of the presses of the power button didn't change the state at all. But if I got it just right, I could see the faint green light go off. That's when I plugged it in and got a solid red light, and eventually a good charge.
