Question about Lexmark X3470 All-In-One InkJet Printer
It tells me the cover is open it is not this is the second lexmark that i have had the same proble with the first one i just figured it was broke and i went and bought another one i have only had this one about 4-5 months and i haven't printed that much with it, i unpluged it and thought that might reset it but no luck, can you give me any suggestion on what might be the problem.thanks a lot
There is probably a paperclip sized piece of white plastic that fell off the microswitch. There is a detailed description of what you need to look for and how to fix it at fixyourownprinter.com. Go there and type in the problem as being "cover open". You will get excellent directions. I have never messed with a printer before and fixed mine in about an hour and a half. If you are handy, I'm sure it will take less. Good luck.

Tips for a great answer:

1. Make sure the printer is on.
2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier
moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the
printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to
3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.
4. Close the printer cover.
5. Re-brick your printer.
Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the
back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge
7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge.
Close the printer cover.
9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to
appear with a new cartridge. Then try to print a document again to verify that
the problem is fixed.
