Question about Scion Vehicle Parts & Accessories

Scion xd ignition coil is malfuctioning

My 3rd ignition coil is constantly breaking, or at least that's what the diagnostics is telling me. I've changed it 3 times and it'll keep breaking. This will end up effecting my rev limiter and gives this bubbly sound when I get the rpm up to 1 1/2. I don't think that this is actually the problem because I just changed it today with a brand new ignition coil, same results. Is there any other explanation?

SOURCE: 92 300zx rpm will not go over 2500 rpm pops from intake

This is a classic symptom of a bad mass airflow sensor. Nissan designed this as a protective feature on the car. If the mass air sensor goes bad, the computer limits the car to a 2400RPM rev limit to prevent damage.

The sensor is under the center nose panel between the headlights. Take that off and on the back of the airbox (which fills this space) you'll see a pipe coming out that meets at a "T" with another hose going across and down under the headlights. That pipe off the back of the airbox is the mass air sensor (it has a harness plugged in).

How to find and clear a/c drain in 2008 Scion XD?

Install a cabin filter. You have to remove the glove box to access the filter's home, but once you do this, the filter will catch all the crud that cloggs the system. It is very easy to install the cabin filter in a Scion XD. Just go to Pep Boys or your local parts store and get the filter. They cost about $15.00 and check out the video on youtube.com "Scion Xd cabin filter".

Resetting maintainance light on a 2008 Scion xD

To reset your maintenance reminder system (even if the light hasn't come on yet), you'll need to turn your key to on (but don't start!) and make sure your odometer is on TRIP A. Then key off. Press and hold the Odometer/Trip button. While holding down on the button, key the ignition to on (Don't start the engine!) The display panel will count down from "------" to "-"Continue pressing the button until the Trip A is displayed. After this step, you are done.

Here can find one video about this procedure: Youtube vj7kK5i2tPc

I hope helps with this (remembe rated this help) Good luck.

MAINT REQD light won't reset

I am a Scion Service Manager. Really.
Here is how you do it:

Turn the key to the ON position (do not start it)

Observe the odometer display (it MUST be set to "ODO"),
and observe the mileage...
(Note that some Toyota & Scion cars utilize the "Trip A" setting)

Press in and HOLD the trip reset stick; do not release it.

Turn the key on.

Observe the odometer display. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, 3, 2, and then 1, followed by 5 zeros, and then, whatever mileage you observed when you started will return.

Release the button. The indicator is norw reset.

What this does: It adds 5K miles to the odometer counter.
