My LG scoop from alltel keeps turning on and off

My phone worked well when i first got it but now when im in the middle of a call it will turn off! I'v also noticed that when it changes temperature, even slightly, my phone will turn off. (i.e. i was in the car and i got out and it turned off, i turned it back on and walked in the store and it turned off again!,it did the same thing on the way to the car as well. Sometimes i will be sitting there in the middle of a txt and i will look up at the tv for a sec and wen i go back to my phone the screen is blank so a press the talk button or one of the keys and the screen wont go on and the phone is off! I had a previous lg scoop and it was messing up even worse and so i had to get another one. Im wondering if it is just a bad phone or if im doing something to make it happen??

It's weird, but I just started having this exact problem yesterday. I've had this phone for a year and a half and this is the first time. I think it's when I shut the phone that it happens for me...so far anyway. So, hopefully, someone will help out soon...or maybe, just maybe, it will stop by itself.

My scoop also started to have alot of problems and not just mine but all 5 of our scoops they started to turn off by itself then the screen started to go black then the keyboard got frozen couldn't text anymore or dial out cause it just froze and I had to pop out the battery. They said it needs updates or just pop out the battery or well it has humidity damage(come on we live in area where there is 100% humidity "Gulf of Mexico") even in OKC cold outside warm inside well you got some kind of water vapors going on I guess my phone can only be in a World of a CONTROLLED ENVIROMENT WHERE EVER THAT MIGHT BE! Replaced it still having the same issues. HELP somebody has to know something........

My phone does the exact same thing. I am beginning to think that this is just a bad phone.

  • Anonymous Mar 12, 2009

I noticed everything that was mentioned. the sliding it up to hard the delayed text the change of temperture and the random shut down. I have came to the conclusion that the LG Scoop is just a crappy phone. Earlier to day i passed by a heater & it instantly cut off.

I have the same problem with it turning off. One alltel rep says they know its a problem, but customer service denies any problems. So frustrating not to be able to exchange for a better phone! I am on my 3rd replacement scoop.

I think the reason is sliding it up too hard. I've looked at it and done some experiments and i found that sliding it up too hard can damage the LCD screen and it will occasionally shut down without notice. So i'm assuming sliding it too hard is the main reason.

These phones just need to be updated. If the self updater doesnt find any updates go to your provider and have them update it.

Im working with mine at the moment, my scoop randomly dies and i found that if you slide the battery down or push around the latch the phone will turn off, i just put some scotch tape at the back end of the battery and it keeps the contact tight

I had the same problem. If you are seriously getting frusterated with it and have a few spare coins in your pocket I have an easy solution! Find yourself a nice concrete slab and throw this Piece O' Sh*t phone off of it....at least you feel a sense of relief for a brief second! haha good luck with a new phone when you decide to get rid of this one...Join the club folks!

I have had the same problem. Everytime I take the scoop out of my pocket, it dies. This is the THIRD one ive had since Alltel sucks and wont let me just get another phone. I was told that its battery related and it doesnt take much for it to lose contact and the phone will die. There really isnt a fix to it, just get another phone. It seems to help when you clean the battery contacts every now and then but i still have problems. It even dies when i hold the phone with my shoulder to talk. WTF haha hope this helps =/

I have a LG scoop from alltel and i want to put my number on a verizon LG model VX8550A, how do i do that?

if youre trying to program your alltel phone number on a verizon phone yet keep your alltel service its not going to work. the phones are locked to the carriers and cannot be unlocked. depending on where your cellphone number is based out of your serivce will most likely turn into verizon anyway. but as far as i know right now you cannot use the verizon phones.
i could be wrong, i live in an area that is going to become AT&T not verizon.

Phone not charging

either your cord is broken, or the charger port in your phone is broken. If it is less than a year old alltel will send it in and if they see that it was not intentional they will send you a new one.

My BRAND NEW LG Scoop won't allow incoming calls!

That happened to my mom's phone too
we both have LG scoops/rumors and that are simply ridiuculous and peices of ****.
I'm not even kidding when I say I've been through at least 7 scoops in the past year.

What you can do is take it to an alltel store and they can replace it for you, but I would REALLY recommend getting a new phone.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck with my alltel contract to have an LG scoop for another year and it's horrible. My current phone that I just got about 2 weeks ago already stopped working. Get out while you can.

Lg scoop

Simple solution, Alltel belives and enforces digital copyright management, while you can listen to your favorite tones and music, you will NOT be able to use them as ringtones, or use them with any of the features of the phone other then playing the tunes for entertainment. The only way to use files as ringtones is to purchase the files from alltel, or use their realtone jukebox, etc.

Sorry about the news , but welcome to ALLTEL!
