Having problems with the 3-speed pull string it doesn't seem to work after installation?

Remove the recoil pull starter rope surrounded by 3 or 4 hold down screws depending on your make then you wind up the coil starter pulley about 5 turns counter clockwise hold it there you feel a tension as you go abouts turning. Which is what you want to do. Once you reach 5 turns hold it do not let go,with one hand and with the other hand take a vise grips and clamp down the rope so that you don't lose your tension install your pull cord handle, take out the vise grips , then you release your cord pull starter rope..

Good morning,I have a homelite super2 chainsaw, the pull string doesn't roll back after pulling it to start... what can be wrong and how do i repair it. thank you.

recoil spring or internal movement worn

ask you chain saw repairer/ part supplier
you might be able to get a used off the shelf bolt on replacement or have to pull yours apart

by the pictures
not an easy pull apart repair

new coil spring can let go while refitting it
recoil rope holder is plastic and set into the side casing

looks like you have to undo that side casing of the saw including the rolled hold handle

I have a stihl fs 80, the starter cord will not retract after the first pull. The spring is still intacted but doesn't spring back when re-attached to weed eater.

One of 2 things come 2 mind, if the spring is still in tact it could be that the retract line might be slightly to long and forces the spring to over travel and lock up against itself. A simple test would be to pull the pull start to only 80%. If at 80% it retracts normally then shorten the pull string by a few centimeters . alternatively the spring may be over tensioned by a turn or two. to release pull the string out with the pull starter off the machine to about halfway, hold down the recoil to release the tension off the string and pull the string out towards you through the slot provided on the face of the recoil into a loop. Gently let the recoil slip one full turn at a time until there is just enough tension to pull the handle all the way back. if its too loose just revers the process one turn at a time. its not complicated, to do but can be tricky,
if DIY is not your thing, refer to someone better qualified,

I just got this guitar. I pull the tuner control, strum the string and after the guitar tune itself, the G string still out of tune??

Are you sure you are struming the G string at the right point? One might be able to fool the tuner by triggering a harmonic on the strings or being too aggressive in the strum.

I would pull the peg and see if the string CAN be tuned manually. It is possible the G string is bad or somebody put the wrong string on there.

Remember that strings can be within about 10% of the breaking tension when in tune.

Also it appears that the thing can detune itself to nearby keys. Make sure you have the dial set correct when you pull it out to tune.

Had to replace E string on Baby Z. Having difficulty getting the string on guitar to wind Any assistance would be great!

Normally you leave string slack enough at the start so you can get 3 or 4 winds before it is at tension.

While winding, pull string sideways to keep gentle tension on the string.

They have cranks to speed up the winding process you caanbuy that are inexpensive.

Here is an excellent video of how to:

Rob poulan leaf blower how to rewind pull string

I invert and secure the starter housing and rewind the spring large coil to small (need eye protection, both hands and no women around work area!). I'm right handed so i tension the spring enough to insert it inside the previous coil while holding what has already been installed with my left about 180° from my right hand. The tension will hold the spring in the housing once completely inserted. Then bend slightly the inner most part to engage the starter spool. It will require about 2 turns of pretension to retract properly.
If you're lucky you can pull the cord out enough for a pretension then slightly raise and add the withdrawn cord to the spool.

Both methods require about 2 turns of pretension to rewind the cord when pulled. HTH

You can buy a roll of fishing line and make a draw string to match it. Cut a piece off about 14 inch.Tie a knot in one end and a small loop in the other. Hook the loop to the right side and pull it to the left under the carriage. Now wind the mainspring up to about five or six turns and push the small know into the slot. Carefully unwind until string is taught.
