Error codes 5C10 and 6A00 on canon mp830

The printer will not feed paper; makes a noise - similar to free-spinning ratchets; giving error code 5C10, with instructions to turn off, and try again, check manual; The manual does not have a reference for error code 5C10, or references to noise made. Actions taken - turned printer off; & disconnected electrical supply; changed paper feed to bottom tray but with same outcomes, cleaned rollers - will not allow me to change to top paper feed, & I am getting an error message code 6A00. Again I've turned off power, disconnected from electrical source, and from computer; on re-connecting power & computer, immediately gives error code 6A00.

Printer is approx 2 years old; and I've previously had problems with the scanning facility.

Move the white plastic assembly forward and then all the way back. Move the print head back to the right, closed lid and turned it on. It work like a charm...up and running

moved the plastic spring loaded purge a few times and the problem did correct itself. NOTE - Wear a rubber glove or something before attemping or else you'll have a couple fingers full of ink that doesnt come off very easily Took out all the ink cartridge, pushed the cartridge holder back and forth and cleaned the inside without taking it apart. The printer works great

Did you remove paper by force at a certian stage, did you print thick card board? The sound you get is of a stripped gear a paper feeder, Not to put you down but these components are hard to get and very expensive. Its possible to take it to a repairer just get a quotation first so that you don't spend more of the value of the printer thank you

Canon MP830 Error Code 6AOO

The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....

apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.

hope this helps

MP830 A600 error code

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the hassel.
Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its always a paper path error or purge unit.
I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

Feed switch & alrm light on

The MP 830 usually will give you an error code in the display. If these lights just come on and you don't hear anything moving inside and no error codes, the main logic board could be bad. A rather expensive repair. Have you tried unplugging the printer and plugging in again?

Error Code 6A00 for MP830

try simply moving the cartridge back and forth a few times first

Because: 6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit. Follow Canon's suggestion, take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility. You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself.
