I have had this camera for about 7 months now and about 2 months ago I went to turn it on and it wouldn't. I checked the batteries in my cd player and they worked but just to be sure I got some news ones..checked that they were ok first and put them in my camera...still nothing. I have no idea what the problem could be and REALLY hope it's not broken as, as i said, i've only had it for a while and it was a present from my parents. please help!! thanks =]

Very odd.. but electricity can do weird things! I think your corrosion assessment could be correct. The camera needs to be opened and checked for corrosion, if there is noticeable corrosion you won't find anyone who will want to try and repair it, sorry. If no corrosion it might need the lens replaced... probably about $80-90 total for a refurb lens, installation and return shipping. Fuji directly will probably want twice that amount, but it wouldn't hurt to check with them.
Hope this helps.

well you guys might not believe this but its true. so i bought an olympus stylus 730 2 years ago. and then one i turned it on and it said zoom error and it would turn off. i was so devasted because i had bought that with my birthday money and to think that it didn;t work anymore made me feel terrible... so i went to circuit city and they told me and my parennts that i was better of buying a new one bevcause it wouldn;t be able to work again.. so i just gave up and stopped trying for about 9 months,. but just yesterday i told myself i need to make that camera work and i started hitting it against the table and my dad tried it to... it wasn;t until my brother tried it that it turned on i was super duper happy knowing that it actually worked... so now the thing that you have to do is turn it on and beofre it turns of you need to hit it on the side where it hjas the power and the reset button,, don;t give up... i actully had to hity it pretty hard for it to work... GOOd LUCK ... hope this helps
You tell me that you tried new batteries. Have you tried a set of NiMH batteries? They are the best for digital cameras. Please try a set, preferably ones rated 2200 or higher. If this doesn't help, the lens could be jammed.
Hang onto the batteries though, because they are rechargeable and can be used in anything that takes AA batteries.
