I installed an HP W1907 monitor to my Dell computer and it worked fine, the picture was great. All of the sudden, as I was installing the drivers, the monitor started having horizontal lines and now it won't do anything but showing these lines. Can anybody help? Thanks.

Go back to Dell monitor. Remove any video drivers from hp.change video resolution both in windows and in video card settings to standard 1024 x 768 (yes it will look horrible) then hook up hp monitor. Don't install drivers if prompted get them from hp website then adjust resolution through video card settings after drivers installed which probably require restart.
If you mean that you used an older monitor to test the computer and it worked and you think the monitor mentioned is failing, it is probably worth getting it checked by a tv repairman who can advise you whether it can be fixed. Generally, a monitor that refuses to show a picture, cuts off after being powered on, or has a display that is poor or with a colour cast is probably NOT worth fixing
This is usually one of two problems.
1. The backlight of the monitor just might be dying out. This is what is usually the issue and is fixable. Basically you'll just have the LED lights inside it replaced.
2. The internal wiring of the monitor might be flawed, and may need fixing/replacing. This might be a result of poor or frayed wiring.
If your other monitor works just fine, it should mainly be an issue with the trouble monitor and you shouldn't have to worry about your computer especially if it even runs for a while before going black.
Hope this was helpful!
Best of luck.
If this monitor (HP w1907) is going into sleep mode the normally blue power led will change to yellow. This indicates loss of video signal or possible out of range resolution. If the picture goes dark and the power lite stays blue, you have a backlight malfunction. It can be an inverter power fault but this model mostly has worn out backlights causing a shutdown condition. There is no update for this monitor. You just have to mkae sure you have the correct video card driver install in your computer. Just use this monitor with another computer to find out if it is monitor or computer problem.
On many computers, the output for the sound is very near the output for the monitor. Is it possible that you loosened the wire for the sound when you installed the monitor (plugged it in), or unplugged the sound altogether and plugged it back into the wrong place? The outbound sound hole on most, but not all, computers is green.
All computers have at least two places to plug in sound, most have 3, and the newer machines have 6. If you are unsure which is the correct hole to plug that sound wire into, you can play something on your computer that makes sound for a while (like a song) and move the plug from one to the other until sound is heard.
If you have 6 holes that the sound wire fits, you most likely have software on your computer that pops up and tells you were you have plugged it in.
If the speakers are built into the new monitor, check the monitor for controls and ensure that the volume controls are not all the way down.
All of these solutions are hardware solutions. Now, we have software solutions:
Open the control panel and find Sounds and Audio controls. Open that.
Check to see that nothing has "mute" checked.
Check also to see that the sound levels are high enough to hear something.
"Access is denied" is the key here. It sounds like your login in windows does not allow you the privileges for that installation. Try logging in as an administrator and re-installing. One thing bothers me though, if this was purchased as a system, why would you need to install drivers? that should have been pre-installed.
