Linksys WMB54G: No Connection Via the Software Utility

I can connect perfectly via both of my home computers wirelessly to the WMB54G at using my browser (IE 7) but no matter what I try, I cannot get the Linksys WMB software to detect/recognize the WMB. Only when I connect the WMB via one of the ports on my WRT54GS via cable and run the utility does the software detect the WMB. I've tried reloading software, upgrading to the latest firmware, rebooting, adding IPs to my AV firwall, diabling wireless security, etc.. Nothing seems to work after I installed XP SP2 and a newer version of Norton AV. I've been at this for over a month! Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance!

I am trying to connect to the WMB56G on a Vista machine and it doens't see the device. I worked with tech support and they had me send my device in on an RFA, but the replacement does exactly the same thing. From reading on the web, seems this is a common problem. Installed as Admin and in XP compatible mode. Still no connection with the utility. HELP

The problem is that might be the 121. I would try using the hightest IP address your router will allow. Mine was chance of a conflict less likely. I would also try pinging the bridge's address from using the dos box and typing in ping if the bridge doesn't respond it is no longer working. The ping can be done when connected to the ethernet port or wirelessly. If the ping fails most likely the bridged is fried in that case phone linksys tech support the will try to set it up if they are unsuccessufl they will give you a case number after the have determined it is not functioning. Make sure the tech get the case number from the supervisor. Then you go to the Linsys wmb54g page and click on the request for an RMA and follow the instructions. If you if is still under 3years you will get a replacement. That is why you always regester your product with linksys. If you haven't I suggest you do that then phone tech support and go through the grueling steps to get an RMA (return merchandise authorization). Pain but better that than a $90 doorstop.

You stated that you have the latest firmware installed, you must also load and use the latest software to be compatible with the new firmware. The Linksys site has both of these downloads. Be sure to remove all the old software before the new load. If you are still having problems read through the tutorial on this site. Hope this helps

Have 2 computer's in home, on will link t network, other will not even bring up network when attemptingto get on internet via router

Usually under these circumstances, one of your computers may not have a compatible wireless network card. An example would be if your computer has a Wireless G Network Card and your router is Wireless N, you might run into problems. You can try reinstalling the drivers for your Network Card. You can also go to the Linksys website and install the installation utility to set up the connection from scratch again.

The router itself is fine, it's the wireless card in your computer that isn't finding the router.

Another application is controlling the wireless adapter

I believe you are using WINDOWS XP.
In case of windows XP, there might be 2 different wireless utilities can control your wireless adapter.
First utility is the manufacturer's utility. If you have Dell wireless adapter then you can use Dell utility to connect to the network.
Another utility is Window's utility. You are getting the error message in this utility because your computer is using another utility.
To use window's utility you will need to start the " wireless zero configuration ".

The linksys utility always sends signal to PC speakers, even when wmb54g unit shows connected. The wmb54g and router are up-to-date and run WEP 128 security encoding. The wmb54g flashes faster when...

I can disable the sound card, set the music bridge as the default sound output device and it works just fine (after rebooting). But if I enable the sound card again, even when keeping the music bridge as the default, the sound goes exclusively to the PC speakers, no matter what device the connection is switched to on the Linksys utility. (By the way the music bridge shows correctly to be connected or disconnected....with no effect on the sound output.) The major hassle is that any usable change of output device requires a reboot. Still testing. Not a single answer from the community. Also I never required the promised temporary password.

Unable to access the internet via my laptop

One of two problems. The Security Key for your wireless connection is wrong, or the McAfee is causing a problem. Most likely conflicting with any other virus software on your computer. Try removing McAfee from the computer and your solution should go away. Try another virus software such as Avast! Home edition. McAfee is known for having issues with wireless internet connections.

Actiontec GT704-WG wireless connection not working

you say it suddenly stopped working, if you can connect to the router via ethernet cable then try to access the router's web utility page and make sure your router is in mixed or G-only. If you can't still connect to the router through wireless then try restarting the Wireless Zero Configuration from windows. This is how it's made: Go to control panel and double-click "administrative tools", then double-click "services". You will see a list, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and click "stop", you'll see a progress bar. After that click "start", you'll see another progress bar. Now try connecting to your router via wireless connection. If you still can't connect then repair the connection by right-clicking the wireless icon at the bottom right corner. Keep repairing until you connect.
Hope this works!
