Your machine has Vista supported print drivers?
This is where you can go for the Print Drivers.
http://www.sharpusa.com/products/business/copiers/business_copiers_drivers/
Scanning: first your Machine needs network scanning enabled: (if you can scan with other PC's, dont worry about this) this a key you will get from your dealer..
as for scanning there are a few options:
Scan to email which you can scan through the network to your email using your email server..
Scan to desktop
you can use Sharpdesk a program that will come with the machine if Scanning is enabled? which now is available for vista, your local sharp dealer will have(not sold in stores)
or you can try the Twain Scan (LAN).. which you can find on the sharp web site listed above..

Try exploring the device's web management interface.
Use your wenb browser to connect to the device's IP address.
the default credentials for the unit are
user: admin
pasword: admin
if that does not work, try password: Sharp
(note that the S is capital and the rest are lower case)

As a general rule, U machines are not designed to be turned into network printers, that's what the MX-M450N is for. You can put an MX-NBX3 on it, it might work properly and it might not.
The NBX3 can only function properly with a hard drive in the copier, otherwise you're outta luck!!
Your driver type may be wrong. If you are currently using PCL6, try PCL5e.
Other than that, try getting a new driver from the Business Copiers section of sharpusa.com. You may have to see which model will work for you. Look for the PCL driver for MX-NBX3, then look for MX-M450U, then MX-M450N.
