Unfortunately, I found there is no "solution." I called Casio and was told that there is no way to change that format on this model.

SOURCE: ten zeros when you start

Hello,
The Fix sign on the top of the screen (smaller size) are indicators that calculator is using the FIXed format: All numbers are displayed with a fixed number of decimal digits (in you case it may have been set to 9 decimal digits). You can change that in the setup.
The Grad symbol means that the angle unit is set to grad. This too can be changed to degrees or radians in the set up.
A sure way to achieve mastery of calculator use is to learn how to configure it to fit the types of calculations to be performed.

Hope it helps.

SOURCE: My calculator shows 0.00000000 instead

At the top left of the calculator, you will see a sliding switch that is labeled: DECIMAL A,0,2,4,6,F. Move the indicator to the "0". This will remove all excess zeros. The numbers represent how many decimal places the screen will show. I have the manual for this calculator if you need it. LBrown18062@hotmail.com

Your calculator is set to display in scientific notation. To change it, press SETUP 1 then choose the desired mode. For most purposes you'll probably want Floating Point. For more details see the third column of the first page of the manual.

The "E" is an error indication. If you divide a number by zero that would cause it. But a reset should clear it. Also dead backup battery will cause it.

FIRST replace the backup battery in the unit. There is a small panel on the bottom to access it.

Then do the reset. There is a "poke hole" to reset it that should be marked. Refer to your manual which is also available for free download online.

EL 1801V - how to set time/date?

To change the date, enter the date in MM.DD.YY format, pressing the decimal key between the month and day (will show as a decimal on the display) and the day and year (will show as a dash on the display). Then, press the Time/Date key (the one that looks like a clock and a calendar). The new date will show on the display. Note that if the month is less than 10, you do need to press the 0 (zero) key for the first digit, even though it will not show on the display. To change the time, enter the time in 24-hour HH.MM format, pressing the decimal key between the hour and minute. Then, press the Time/Date key. The new time will show on the display. Note that if the hour is less than 10, you do need to press the 0 (zero) key for the first digit, even though it will not show on the display. Hope this helps! :)
