Need new throttle valve for black & decker orbital air sander 6174 type 1

Looking for a replacement throttle valve; the original one disintegrated. B&D cannot seem to find this model or part in their database. We think it was made by a company in Japan (1975-79) and sold to all other tool companies since they all seem to have the same part.

Never start the Sander without first placing it against the surface to be sanded. In free air the Sander will not osolate.

SOURCE: black and decker model 7404 1/3 sheet sander - not orbiting

I read elsewhere of someone using JB Weld to fill in the pentagonal hole in the bottom plate, after coating the armature of the motor with a light coating of oil to keep the JP Weld from sticking. Assemble, and set aside for the JB Weld to set up.

I just looked on ebay you can buy the orbital sanders for as low as $10.00 Even the Black and Decker is around $ 15.00 Cheaper to replace than to keep. Good Luck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff8iYu7JXvA

Black & decker 7448 sander sounds & smells like motor ceased up. only makes a humming noise & feels hot.

could have had a bearing problem that caused the motor to cease up, It might be time for a new one unless you are handy, if so I suggest going to dewaltservicenet.com and downloading a breakdown for the tool and make note of how you disassemble it to find the problem, If it is the armature or field it might cost less to replace it.

I have a MS1000 Black and Decker Cyclone round sander..looking for replacement sanding disc

Hello, W/D here.
Most sanding disc types are available at the larger box hardware stores. They are (sometimes) generic or exact replacements.
I use the "Gator" brand on my B7D sander, and the discs work just fine.
Best regards, --W/D--

Need to convert pad to hook & loop sys. Is product made to fit this sander pad ?

Thought about what my orbital sander is like, then went to a craft store and bought a large sheet/pad of velcro and cut it to fit the 6" rubber disc pad glued it to the pad and then bought hook and loop sanding discs. And you wondering why I didn't use my orbital sander?? Because I needed to get into tight spaces and the orbital sander is a bit too large for this, plus it's too heavy to use working overhead .

Thanks for your site and for asking if problem still exists. Appreciate it.

Black and decker model 7404 1/3 sheet sander - not orbiting

wear inhibitor part number 86355 has broken on you. When this part brakes it brakes into tiny pieces which then leave the case so it hard to tell whats wrong. They don't make this part any more as the 7404 was discontinued in October 1975. I hoped this helped. I have the same problem.
