Hi There and Welcome to Fixya!
Another way to turn on the wireless radio on your Lenovo Y510 is to press and hold the "Fn" key, then simultaneously press the "F5" key.
This is an alternative way to switch the wireless antenna on or off without using the physical WIFI switch.
Hope this helps,
Thank you for using FixYa.

To switch on is normally a keyboard key. or a switch some where on the laptop it self. look along your number keys for a wireless signal logo, if its blue there will be another key you have to press with it, normally a fn key.
you can do it also by going to start settings control panel or just start control panel and network conections.
find your wireless conection and right click it and goto properties. there will be a tab on top for the wireless card and the first option inside this is on or off. hope this helps.

Press FN+F5 button together on the keyboard to have the settings for display pops up on the screen. Check if the radio button was turned on both for wireless and bluetooth connection. If the radio button was off, just click ON and that should set the wifi to turned on. Always make sure that the wifi switch was set to on as well.
If this didn't fix the problem, kindly reinstall the wifi adapter driver by downloading the driver from the manufacturer's website. after reinstallation kindly reboot the computer.
Please leave comments if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: I have IBM thinkpad R60
Please follow these steps to make it work:
1. Uninstall the wireless driver using Add/Remove Programs
2. Uninstall the Hotkey utility using its Setup program (uninstall is an option in the Setup app; it doesn't appear in Add/Remove Programs control panel)
4. Delete the Hotkey folders from C:\Program Files\Lenovo\PkgMgr [key step!]
5. Reinstall the Hotkey Utility and the wireless driver (don't reboot if prompted)
