Open Question

Countax A2050HE The cutting deck on my countax A2050HE will neither raise or lower. The height indicator on the dash board still comes on but when I turn the dial, nothing happens. I've checked the connections and fuses and everything seems fine. Is there any way of manually setting the cutting height as the blades still spin???

SOURCE: I have a Countax K14 ride on mower the cutter deck

Hello ianh_2007:

Usually this Problem is Caused by a Blown Fuse or a Bad PTO Ground.
1-The Following is a Basic File I Made for Checking the PTO (Blade Engagement).
>>The Most Common Cause for this Problem is the PTO Ground. >>A Quick Ground Check is to Use Another Wire and Ground the PTO at the Harness Connection Nearest the PTO.
>>Be Careful and Do Not Ground the HOT Wire. Use a Multimeter and Locate the Ground Wire.
>>Clean the PTO Ground and All the Connections for the PTO Wiring Harness.
>>If you have an Ohmmeter, Disconnect the Wiring Harness from the Front of the Clutch and Check the Resistance of the Clutch. You should have around 4 or 5 OHMs. If at or near Zero, the Coil has Shorted.
2- >>The Following is a Basic File I made for Setting the PTO Clearance. Any Input is Appreciated. **Some of the Newer PTOs cannot be Adjusted.
>>If you can Get a Blade Style Feeler Gauge between the PTO Magnet and Clutch, then Set the Clearance at .015in. The Newer PTOs have the Same Set Up as the Older PTOs, except there is No Adjustments.
>>I Suggest also that you Rig a 12 Volt Light for Testing the Current Flow to the PTO while Operating the Mower. If the Light Blinks During Operation, then you have a Bad Connection somewhere to the PTO Clutch.
>>If the Light Stays Steady and the PTO Still Kicks in and Out, then it is the Adjustment.
>>You can Also Try Turning the Spring Loaded Adjuster Nuts 1/4 Turn and Operate the Mower. Do Not Adjust Over 1/2 Turn.
>>If you have Adjusted to 1/2 Turn and the Problem is Still Present and you Know the Voltage to the PTO is Steady, then Replace the PTO.**
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

I have a John Deere LX178 lawn tractor and the mower deck will not raise/lower. It is all the way down and pushing in the button is how i've ALWAYS adjusted the height. It will not budge

1) NEVER adjust to where the deck wheels touch the ground. The wheels are to ride 1/4" off the ground. 2) The long lever to your left which raises & lowers the deck has 3 settings. 1- Fully back toward you which has the deck raised (called transport mode). 2- Halfway down which is the normal mowing mode (called float mode) 3- Fully away from you which sets the deck fully on the ground. This mode is ONLY used for VERY rough terrain where the deck risks getting pushed into "transport" or "full up" mode & getting stuck there. 3) On front-to-back tilt, the front should be 1/2inch lower than the back for least damage to the grass. Ok-now to adjust "cutting" height. 1) Park on a level, flat surface. 2) Pull the deck lever fully back toward you to put the deck into "transport" mode. 3) twist the "cutting" height knob (just below your seat) to the height you want the grass cut. Has choices by 1/2" increments from 1" to 3.5". The deck in "transport" mode is 4". 4) Lower the deck lever to the midway/"floating" mode point. 5) Adjust each deck wheel with its own peg & pin to have at least 1/4" clearance from ground. Thats it for "cutting height" adjustments

Where can i get I a new cutting deck for my old countax c300h? I am in Leicestershire and would like it fitted also. Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - but it's either ebay, or pay Countax GBP 350 or more. Any C-series deck will physically fit, but power becomes an issue if you over-do it (don't fit a 42" deck if you only have 12HP)

My Countax 20/50 HE electric sweeper system wont lift up

Hi Try unplugging the connector that runs from the tractor unit behind the seat to the lift mechanism. Its a little black connector and sometimes it becomes disconnected just push it together hard.
Other wisw it may be the switch on the dashboard broken.

My countax c400h cutter deck wont engage

I have just had this problem and traced it to the plug that connects the wiring harness to the circuit board under the dash. You should hear the electromagnetic clutch engaging while the engine is off and just the ignition on (need to be on the seat and pedal pressed) I removed the circuit board and fiddled with the wired connected the plug. The bad connection was the only fully whits wire which showed signs of heat due to a bad connection. fixed this and all sorted now.

Is it possible to download the repair manual for a countax T1200 on line

Phone Countax Customer support on 01844 278800. Tell them what manual you require, the exact model/year are on a sticker inside the console below the dashboard usually. Record the serial numbers for the deck and PGC also, they both should have stickers too. Countax will send you out a copy of the correct manual for free. Good luck.
