The date code are not showing up when capture to computer

I cannot get the date when capturing movie into computer. I use IEEE1394 firewire and tried Ulead studio video, Win DV and Nero vision but all of them show only movie without date. Canon tech support said the signal goes with the movie and should be available. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

SOURCE: Canon XL2 capturing problems

This is not a sarcastic reply - it's genuine. If you're serious about making video, switch to a Mac. I use an XL1 or 2 every day, never have a connection issue. Regards, Nik

Video part doesnt transfer to computer just audio

Depending on the type of equipment you are using, you may need two connections between the source device and the computer. Audio cards will only transfer the audio portion from the source. You would need a video capture method in order to get the video. Some cameras will have a USB or IEEE1394 (Firewire) connection which will allow video transfer. You will also need a software package to edit the captured video/audio. If you have a late model PC, the Microsoft Movie Maker is usually pre installed and will work fine for basic projects.

Please tell me from where i can download DCR-TRV285E driver of sony digital 8 .

If you mean a driver to transfer the video to your computer via firewire (ieee1394), then you are in luck! No driver is needed. As long as you have a correctly installed firewire port on your computer, a firewire connecting cable, and video editing software, you should be able to easily transfer video to your system.
Connect the camera to the computer via the firewire cable.
Turn on the camera.
Put the camera in playback mode.
Startup Windows Movie Maker or iMovie if on a Mac or whatever video program you prefer.
Should be an option for "capture" or "import from camera".
Use that and you are good to go!

I can't download video from videocam to pc.

You should be able to connect your camcorder to IEEE1394 socket on a computer, by means of a firewire cable, and capture the video with Windows Movie Maker or other software. Windows Movie Maker is part of WindowsXP and is already instaleed on PCs.

How can i transfer videos from DCR-TRv 460E TOCOMPUTER

It is very simple. Install a Firewire (IEEE1394) card in PCI slot (if you don't have any video capture card) and connect DCR460E camcorder to PC through iLink cable. You need a video editing software like Ulead Video studio, Pinnacle studio or any other to be installed in your PC. Then go to capture mode of that programme and capture transfer video to PC hard disk. Windows movie maker is also do the same. For editing and better special effects you should use hihger versions of ulead or pinnacle. Thank you.

Can I use Firewire to transfer video?

Your computer must be equipped with an IEEE 1394 (Firewire) interface and video capture software. Provided you have both of these, follow the directions below. To connect your digital camcorder to your computer using IEEE1394, follow these steps: 1. Connect the IEEE 1394 interface on your camcorder to the IEEE 1394 interface on your computer. 2. Turn on your computer. 3. Turn on your camcorder. 4. Start the video capture software on the computer. Image capture should begin provided the computer hardware and software are configured correctly. If image capture does not begin, you must consult the computer or capture card manufacturer for assistance. Note: If you don't have an IEEE 1394 interface on your computer, you can buy an IEEE 1394 pci card at your local computer store that will work with most current computers.
