Re: Lexmark X2690 all in one does not print colors...
Driver could be corrupt. Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Lexmark printers usually require both cartridges to have ink left in them to continue printing. But try to press the Cancel button for the Alignment process (this is not recommended). Then try to print a document again to verify that you are able to continue printing without an empty color ink.
If that doesn't help, I would suggest you replace your color cartridge with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge.
Your color cartridge may need some cleaning. If you're using Windows, go to Start menu > Prorgrams/All Programs > Lexmark 2600 Series > Solution Center. Go to Maintenance tab and select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
If problem continues, try to insert a different known working color cartridge to determine if it's a faulty cartridge issue.
Hello. The nozzles of the color cartridge may need cleaning since it's doing the same thing on two different printers. Here's an article in the Lexmark website on how to properly clean the nozzles of the cartridge. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/9wzuAL . If it still won't work, try your old color cartridge if you still have it and still working. If it works properly with the old cartridge, maybe you got a defective new cartridge. Hope this helps. Good luck!
The print head for the yellow color may be clogged. Check the manual to see how to turn on your print head's cleaning system. Run it until the yellow starts to print properly. If after running the cycle 4 or 5 times you still can't get any yellow to print you will probably have to take the printer to your local repair depot to have them diagnose the problem.
Your operating system is not supported by Lexmark (http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/product/home/508/0,6970,204816596_653399443_1189433852_en,00.html?tabId=7)
You could try selected another Lexmark printer from your list of printer in WME. Start with the color ones first and then try the B/W ones. Failing that try installing some color printers from other manufacturers IBM for example.
