Toshiba studio 281c prints pdf in color not B&w

We have a Toshiba Studio 281c. Our default settings are to print black and white, with colour to be selected manually as an option. We have several pdf files which we send to the printer and specifically check that the settings are to print in b&w, yet when they print they print in colour - it seems that somehow the pdf file is overwriting the print settings request. Not specific to one machine - same on all machines - am thinking there is a setting on the actual printer but not sure where to look. any ideas? many thanks mel

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Toshiba studio 281C problems

You should be able to print on both, but I wouldn't advise it at all. The envelopes are going to jam a LOT and you WILL eventualy get a label stuck inside the machine. Possible....yes. But I don't recommend it. :)

SOURCE: Toshiba 281C Bypass tray

Problem isn't "solved", but have realized that the issue is related to the fact that the document I am trying to print is formatted for envelopes. When I print a regular word document (letter) it prints fine to the Bypass tray. It must have something to do with the fact that the document is 1000 envelopes. If I print to a PDF file, then print the document to the Bypass Tray I don't seem to have a problem.

SOURCE: Toshiba e-studio 3511 has printing issued on one

These copiers have serious toner dust issues. Light copies are usually caused by dust in the optics (the mirrors) and on the laser glass.
Take off the main copy glass and gently clean all the mirrors and scan bulb underneath it - be careful.
If you remove the drum unit and look inside the cavity you took it out of you will probably find a huge toner mess. the laser glass is situated in this cavity and needs to be cleaned - just clean whatever you can see...

Cant print in color with e studio 281c I can copy in color

The 281c can be set to print to black only as a cost saving measure. The printer control panel is accessed through your browser (using the IP address of the printer) and the setting is made there. You should be able to override this through the printer properties in windows, but I have found that the PCL5 driver worked to switch between B/W and colour, while the PCL6 driver did not. So, for me the easy solution was to install the PCL5 driver and use that.

My toshiba e studio 281c will not print in colour it will only copy in colour

Your print driver is probably set to monochrome. Usually there are to drivers set up on your computer: a pcl5 for black/white, and a ps3 for color--or vice-versa. Right click your driver; you can change the setting in your preference or properties section.
