Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I cannot scan.....it says refer to device documentation to troubleshoot

Hi you can try this:
Now there is 2 probabilities.
1>The digital imaging moniter(situated at the bottom right hand corner, with a green round and a chk inside,..is either not there or the digital imaging file is corrupted)
2>Issue with the printer sw .
..............................
But the very thing you can do is try copying something from the printer which shows the hardware functionality of the printer.

Now for the 1st>> goto computer>>drive c>>programfiles(programfiles 86x for vista 64 bit) >>hp>>digital imaging >>bin>>hpqtra08 ....double click on the hpqtra08.Now try to scan again.

Didnt work.
Now for the 2nd opt>> put the sw cd if you have right click explore ..(goto step 3) but if you dont have the cd you can download the sw from hp.com >support and drivers..extract the file and goto run(search bar for vista) type "%temp%" and then click on folder starting with 7z....now goto step 3.

step 3.goto util folder>>ccc>>unistall l2 but make sure you have to unplug the usb first.
>>Small black box will appear and press enter...and wait it will unistal the printer scan driver part.
>>goto printers and faxes folder under controlpanel (printer for vista)...chk if there is any hp printer any more...if there is any printer not in use..delete them.
>>restart the sys and then goto printer sw cd drive or u can take out the cd and put that back again.
>>A installation wizard will appear.
>>click on add a device and only connect the usb once the sw tells you to connect......this will surely work if it had worked before other wise there is some problem with the cd.

In this case download the sw and reinstall the sw but unistall the prev sw.but you have to unplug the usb first.

Try using widows paint. Look in windows accessories off the start program menu. If you open windows paint, look for open file from "Scanner or Camera". Most likely you can get the scanner to work again in Vista. Otherwise...try Vuescan scanner software. I think you can get a free trial period online and it should also work. You'll have to pay for that if you like it.

Cannot scan any documents to computer. Refer to


Kindly install the scanner software for printer the driver software cd just re install it will install the scanner software and make sure in device manger there is not other usb device listed if it is there just remove it. And refresh it in will automatically install the driver.

For normal scanning you can choose the option of Scanners and Cameras wizard in control panel. But it is better if you have software disk of printer because it contains more option.

Cannot use scan...when I put a document in the tray and press "start scan" it says " no scan options" and "refer to device documentation" what to do?


You need to have it connected to a computer with the scan software running. The scan options are in the computer. It tells what type of document to scan, how to save it, JPG, PDF, etc. and where to send the scanned image.

My HP J5780 will not scan.


you document was place in a different direction, try to place the document in the right place and scan again.

No scan options say refer to device documention to trouble shoot


Try ths:
This happens mainly when you try to scan from the printer ;
Always try to scan from HP solution center but still here is the resolution:
Open Hp Solution center
Click on Settings
Click on scn settings
click on Scan to Setup
Select all the option available to updrade the Front panel menu list and click on ADD
Click on Update;
Restart the computer and the printer and try to scan.
It should resolve the issue.
