The buttons on my Sony cdx-l410x aren't working. How do I fix it?

If it's a detachable face plate then carefully clean the contacts on the chassis and faceplate and inspect them look for bent or damaged connectors. A penciler as works great to clean contacts if this type or a q tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. If not you may need to disassemble the faceplate and clean the circuit board. I have seen, in vehicles where a drink holder is right at the radio, over time drink will splash into the face and overtime cause malfunctions. If that still doesn't work then either the faceplate is bad or the chassis is bad. Both have microprocessors that communicate to one another. At that point it is probably cheaper to replace than repair

My face plate was stolen out of my truck. Thr operateing instructions say cdx-gt200 and cdx-gt20w. How do i determine the proper model without the face plate and can I order a replacement?

remove the stereo from your truck. underneath the head unit itself WILL have a model number along with serial number, wiring instructions, etc............. but be warned that Sony WILL charge top dollar for the faceplate, which in turn will have them sayin somethin like "We recommend buying a new unit as the faceplate will cost nearly the same price as a new unit". In saying that, ALL Sony car stereo wiring looms fit each other, so no need for reinstalling the wires. so if u can get a cheap one without loom, then you'll be fine

Stolen faceplate

the GT-200 is the cheapest of the sony line. A new radio can be obtained for under $50. A faceplate direct from sony would be approximately the same amount. Check eBay or Craigslist for a used one.

Kenwood KRC -X858 Faceplate/Power Problem

I have the exact same problem. I called the tech line and the tech reported that the ribbon cable is probably broke. It is the flex cable between the head unit and the rotating face plate. He said it's not an expensive fix but we would need to mail it to a service center if you're like me and not near one. I just replaced mine with a new unit. It was about time anyways.

Kenwood KDC-519 Faceplate Problem

Detach the faceplate and look at the electrical contacts on the back of it for damage/dirt - you can spray it with electrical contact cleaner. Do the same to the contacts on the head unit - it sounds to me like one or more of them are a bit loose or otherwise not working properly.
