SOURCE: Turntable will not turn (spin)

It would appear this is a belt drive turntable - here's a link to a site where you can order a replacement, although you may be able to find a cheaper one.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Need free owner's manual for a Detrola record player Model KM837

You have probably done this, but I had same problem on one I was given with no manual. I couldn't get the turn table to turn and by accident I move the arm to the right, away from record and it began turning. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: I bought a very nice toshiba record player arm won't move

I am not familiar with that particular model, but the hum is probably the motor. I would check to see if the belt has slipped off or even exists. I'll look it up tonight and update this if I find out more.

SOURCE: aiwa lx 70 turntable needle arm

This is not a solution but it is information. I just got one of these turntables and the platter rotates but the tonearm does not move. I took it apart after downloading the service manual and found that there are two small thin rubber belts that due to age have fallen apart and "melt" when you try to pick up the pieces. One controlled the sideways movement of the tonearm "carriage", the other controlled the lifting and lowering of the tonearm. The replacements are expensive (I think around $18 each) and in trying to pop loose a worm gear with a pulley buit into it, so that I could try a cheap rubber band out just to see if the unit would work with new bands, I broke the stiff plastic "retainer" that by its shape was designed to be pushed out of the way a bit to allow the worm gear to be removed. The service manual, by the way, had all sorts of information about how to make fine adjustments, but said nothing at all about how to replace the belts. Unless removed there was no way to put the replacement band in place over the gear/pulley combination because there was no exposed end to slip a complete band over. So I think it was a bad design, made worse by the aging of the components that made the bands melt and the plastic "keeper" brittle so that instead of flexing out the way it broke. So I'm going to recycle the components. I did not find any reviews to tell me how good a component unit this was, so before you hire a pro to try to fix this unit you need to figure out if it will be worth it to you in the long run. Anyway, good luck.

Can i use a crosley stylus in my detrola km837 record player

Stylus will only fit into certain cartridges. You have two options here. You can look up the cartridge number and make on your Detrola. It should be on the cartridge somewhere. Then search for the stylus. Or you can remove the Detrola cartridge and fit a new cartridge and stylus. As long as the cartridge will fit into the arm of your deck, plus it's the right type - ie: magnetic if the old cartridge was magnetic! Or ceramic - again if the old cartridge was...
Then you can use any make or model cartridge you want. As the quality of the sound can be improved - albeit paying more money for it - by having a good quality cartridge and stylus, it might be best in the long run to change the cartridge.

Sears model 400.91741 turntable doesn't turn under power. It will rotate when i turn it by hand and the unit is getting power. To start spinning, the instructions say to move the needle arm to the right...

Turntables usually are spun by a 'rubber band' type of arrangement. Look under the platter for a broken belt that would attach to a drive motor and then around the platter. I would contact the manufacturer for the correct belt. You know records are making a huge comeback.

Detrola record player wont spin, even after moving arm to far right.

I suggest you lift up the turntable matt and see if you can see a belt, which has either broke or come off. You might need a new belt!
