Question about Dell Precision M90 Notebook
Before the windows starts, screen shows a bunch of dollar signs then does through the start-up routine only to end up with a black screen
When you start up your computer press f8 a menu will come up select Last know configuration that worked press enter.see if that works.If not press f8 again and select safe mode press enter see if it will boot to safe mode.if it boots go to my computer right click your boot drive select double click tools then click check now button a menu will come up tick automatic repair then start repair.It will ask you to shedule a repair click ok when you restart it will check and repair your hard drive.If this does not work you can put your operating system disk in your drive and boot to it and click repair and follow the on screen instructions

hit the number lock key - don't try to hit the "function (fn)" key + number lock. Just the numberlock key SOLO

It sounds like your onboard graphics has possibly failed. If you have an additional monitor to connect to it you can see if the additional video gives any video. If it doesn't during startup then you have to replace the system board.

Usually this happens when the vista boot loader fails. During boot up, keep tapping F8 and then select Disable Automatic Restart... and get the stop error code which usually starts with 0x
