Question about Lexmark Impact S301 Wireless All-in-one Printer

My Lexmark S301 keeps indicating that it cannot retrieve applications list for scanning

It prints fine but i tried to scan to my laptop & I keep getting the message that it cannot retrieve scanning applications. I installed a new Router but I did make all the right connections as the printer is communicating fine can you help?

Try using the Lexmark Printer Home software to scan. To access that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Lexmark Printer Home.

Try scanning from Lexmark Printer Home. To do that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark > Lexmark Printer Home.

Lexmark x5650 cannot retrieve application list


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

I KEEP GETTING THE ERROR MESSAGE ''CANNOT RETRIEVE APPLICATIONS LIST. I AM USING THE LEXMARK 5650 PRINTER AND MY OPERATING SYSTEM IS WINDOWS XP.


I went into my computer, clicked on the printer icon and opened it up. Then I was able to scan simply by pressing scan on the icon, It took me thru the Print wizard and I was able to scan without any error message. So now, my printer will print, scan , copy and sort. I am still enjoying the idea of the all in one printer. So, thanks for your offer of help.

Hi. This printer is wireless for the print function but not for the scan function, go figure. In order to scan you must hook up the printer to your puter via a USB wire.

delete the norton internet security as its blocking the scanner files of your printer software .or try reloading the printer drivers again but if reloading the printer drivers does not helps then removing the norton software is compulsary as the files of printer are getting blocked so scanner is not working.

Lexmark X4580 cannot scan, as although it recognises my PC and when I press the tick it states "downloading application list it thinks for ages and then states "unable to retrieve application...


This appears to be a known error on this model of Lexmark including all the 3500-4500 ranges... there are a couple of download patches on the Lexmark customer support site at lexmark.co.uk, I simply followed the instructions and the first patch worked fine......
