Question about Creative Labs Zen Touch MP3 Player

1 Answer

No music library content

When last turning on my Creative Zen the screen displayed an 're-constructing library' icon. There is no music in the music library, and no artists or albums displayed. The settings still show 10G as being used on the player. When connecting up to the computer, the computer listed the player library as being empty also- and when attempting to transfer music to the player it failed. I have reset the player several times, but with no results. Any ideas? Help!

Try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

I have a Creative Zen Sleek (20G) andit will not reboot as it comes up with "Hard disk problem" Could you let me know how to get this repaired

this is a recovery for the zen player
Detach your ZEN 20GB from the PC and ensure that it is turned off.
  1. Connect the power supply to the player (Optional).
  2. Slide the Power switch towards the Power On icon zen_20gb_reset2.jpg and hold it there while inserting one end of a paper clip into the Reset hole underneath the player. zen_20gb_reset1.jpg Warning: Take care to insert the paper clip into the Reset hole and NOT the Microphone
  3. The Rescue Mode screen appears when ZEN turns on.
    1. Remove the paper clip and release the power button.
    2. The following options will be displayed:
    1. Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
    Reboot Reboots the device.

If you reset it and it goes back to just the zen screen, then I had this problem once too. You need to go to recovery mode (which is still possible).
    1. Detach the Zen Vision:M player from your PC , and ensure that the unit is off.
If the battery is too low, charge the battery fully before continuing
    2. Slide the Power switch towards the Power icon vision_m_reset.jpgand hold the switch in the Power On position.
    3. Push the end of a pin-like object (for example, a straightened paper clip) into the reset hole,
    press gently and remove.

It will display the following options.
    Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Here's the link to the site where I got the info from. (it's another forum). Good luck!
