First off all, I would hope the microwave is on its own breaker, rated at 30A, since the microwave has a fuse rated at 20A.

Normally if the high voltage capacitor is shorted, when you hit the "Start" pad to begin cooking, the fuse will blow instantly.

If you have a problem with the monitor interlock switch, the oven will blow the breaker when the door is closed.

But not always, so it may be a shorted high voltage capacitor, but I would first check for a shorted monitor interlock switch, as well as checking the mounts for all three door switches.

See my help file on door switches here.

Here is a link you or someone you know can use to test the high voltage capacitor, but read their safety warnings first:

The service manual is here, but it does not contain part numbers.

It's usually a bad door switch or a broken door switch mount. Once in a while it's due to a board problem. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

We have the service / repair manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

It will give you safety info, step by step help in disassembly, troubleshooting tips, and part numbers.

Most computers will open this document automatically, but you may need the free Adobe Reader

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

SOURCE: my microwave oven keeps tripping the circuit

If a fuse inside had blown, that would definitely reduce the current flow rather than trip the breaker.
I have replaced several breakers over the years; they no longer last forever.
Try your Amana on a different circuit, not in the kitchen; if that other circuit likes the oven, the breaker is bad. If the alternate circuit breaker also trips, then you have not a blown fuse in the Amana but rather a shorted component inside and repairing the oven will likely cost about the same as replacing it.

It is likely that the heater element is faulty. These elements can fail with a ground fault. You should get a quote for repair as it may be more economical to buy a new one, and you get a warranty too.

Fuse keeps blowing

If the microwave oven is the newer type [7years or less], the problem is most likely the magnetron or the inverter board, but if model is older check for a shorted high voltage capacitor.

Lg microwave oven trips circuit breaker

The magnetron probably has a partial short pulling more current than normal as it runs, the other two items that give trouble is the high voltage diode, "sometimes cracks" to the high voltage capacitor, "usually shorts"

Microwave works but doesn't heat food.

check if it heats through a different outlet by its self if not element is shot but if it works you need a better electrician unfortunately because you might have a new fire hazard with incorrect wiring but thats really only way to find out

Keeps blowing the brakers model #MWG9115SL

DONT USE IT!

There is an obvious short circuit in the unit. I am surprised you would persist in giving yourself the stress over such a unit as well as risking a fire outbreak in the unit.
Repairing microwaves is just not economically viable, you can pick up a refurbished one or a good working second hand one for about $50-100 A repair is about $200-300 with labor.
Dump it, but first cut off the power cord so some other poor soul doesnt think they found a baragain on the tip.

Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA
