Question about Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ 22 inch 3D LCD Monitor

Open Question

Are this capacitors broken??

I have the "1 sec black screen problem" and after opening my monitor I found that the common issue (the capacitors) don't look actually bad. http://www.mediafire.com/conv/520d476d9ad61e8e36d3151fccdcdd4e20523e6eedea0415aa0352dcff6ee6cc6g.jpg http://www.mediafire.com/conv/6b434674ffdaa080203b19d462abb923eb301f373b8fa1f1bdf3e5c36f45e8fb6g.jpg I'm not expert, and this is my first attempt to fix something like this. So... any help will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Samsung 920nm sync master Black screen

Samsung sync master monitors were well known for bad capacitors, if you have a esr capacitor meter you can check in circuit, if not look for dome shape at the top of the capacitor, a dead give away it is open, also check for poor solder connections in the power supply inverter board area.

Monitor comes displays Acer logo and goes black after 3 seconds, with indicator light still green.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Screen Comes on and goes blank within 3 sec

Look for bad caps (bulging/leaking tops) in the power supply first, it may have taken out the fuse and transistors in the inverter circuits also.

About a problem in my viewsonic monitor

Hi

Actually the common problem of viewsonic LCD monitor is bad electrolytic capacitor at primary, secondary & inverter area, if your lcd using power adaptor test the voltage out, use analog or digital tester range 50v dc, if the voltage out is accurate dont be sure to your adaptor working good, open it and find bad electrolytic capacitor inside. That is common problem of viewsonic LCD monitor could cause of display flashing then back to black after few seconds. Suspect inverter area lastly mainboard.

Gud Luck!

Screen only stays on for 1 sec

Assuming you changed all the caps and did it correctly.
IF you get flickering, It could be a transistor on the inverter board.
OR !!! and probably more likely,
It could be one of the bulbs in the lcd itself is failing. It only takes one bad bulb to stop an inverter from firing up !! You can check them one at a time if you have another working monitor.
If you do unplug a good bulb from the good monitor and try each of the questionable ones, one at a time.
Doesn't have to be a gateway monitor to test it, just needs the same backlight plug.

E153FP Monitor screen goes black light is green

The capacitors are probably bad. It is a common problem and easily fixed by taking it apart and replacing the capacitors. Try to find Rubycon Capacitors because they very rarely go bad. Do a search on google for bad caps. I have fixed about 30 monitors this way. Dell is a company well known for bad capacitors. It may not be your problem but replacing the capacitors should cost less than $10 if you do it yourself. www.photphot.com
