Question about Mitsubishi WD-73831 73" HDTV
Colr is flashing in and out on tv with greenish tint
Color wheel is not sold as a part--only the entire optical light engine for the model indicated and it is a small chance it will cause this kind of problem----possible but not likely.

SOURCE: color fades out on tv
I have the same tv and the same problem (color banding, incorrect colors, colors blinking) occured after I replaced the lamp. I had a tv repairman take a look at my unit and he said the color index was incorrect, the tv doesn't know the correct colors to display. The best way to fix that problem is to replace the "light engine". The repairman replaced the "light engine" to my tv and everything is working great. My tv was still until warrenty so I don't know how much a new "light engine" would have cost.

SOURCE: TV is 73" DLP Mitsubishi.
There are tow reaons for this fault. The first one is with the colour whell as you mentioned here. The second and most importan one is with its bulb itsef. Colour wheel won't cost too much. Just replace it first and see whether it helps you. If not, bulb may have to be replaced.OL
