SOURCE: Panasonic TH-42PX60U PLasma - 1/2 screen blacked out

If the screen split is exactly 50/50 top/bottom You are not getting SU or Scan Upper drive.
These are lovely set to work on.
Most likely is SU board itself - Not repairable just to be replaced.
Sorry I work in the UK so I can only guide that the UK part is around £30
SU may have been damaged by failure if the PDP (Plasma Display Panel) but is 9 years only had 2 screens damage the SU board.
There are several setups to do after fitting a PDP. If you don't have the service data - Do not risk it, Reduced life of the Panel and a safety risk.

Yo don't. The TV's resolution can't be changed. Only the signal resolution from the source can be altered.

The TV is a fixed pixel device. The panel has a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The incoming video signal is scaled to fit that display. If the signal is 480i then it is deinterlaced to make it 480p, and then scaled up to make it 1080p. The amount of detail in the picture doesn't change. It's still a 480i image. It's just blown up to fill a 1080 panel.

The TV reports the resolution of the incoming signal before it is scaled. If you have a BD player you can see the effect of changing the resolution setting from 480p, to 720p, to 1080i, to 1080p 60, to 1080p 24. The last three (the 1080 resolutions) shouldn't look too different with a Blu-ray apart from movement because the native picture is 1080p 24 and the TV is simply converting it back to 1080p 24 for display.

960i is a funny resolution. That would be achieved by line doubling a 480i signal. But it's not one of the VESA HDTV timings. TTBOMK there's no Blu-ray or HD source that generates a 960i image. So even if you could generate it then the TV wouldn't understand what to do with it.

How to change the screen size on a Westington TV

Hey,
In order for you to change the screen size on your Westington TV you have to press on Format on your remote (it is the button between the volume and the channel, right under the input button). As you press on it, it will change the display. From
  • Standard: Picture is displayed in its original size.
  • Fill: Picture is displayed to cover the entire screen.
  • Overscan: Picture is scaled down to fit the display area.
  • 1:1 Mode: Matches the incoming resolution exactly to the pixels without any scaling.

And now everything should be good!
Enjoy!

Change TV resolutions to view slide shows

Nope. The picture resolution has to be 1080 to fill the screen completely. Using stretch and zoom will distort the low rez pictures. No option to change resolution on the TV itself.

I have a sony bravi xbr ;the picture is sooo big i can't read the subtitles . i tried ti fix it ( from the instruction manual ) but nothing work . thank you !

Hi: Check you screens format button to change screen sizes, this button may also be labeled Aspect. Seems you are in ZOOM Mode, these buttons can also be found on cable boxes remote as well try pushing them to see if screen size change. If this does'nt help then do this with the TV in off posistion. Press the Display key on your remote, Then the Five key, then the Vol up key, then press power key. This will turn set on in service mode, you will see service options do not do anything but press the number 8 on remote and hit enter. This will rest tv to factory settings. All video setups and parameters you have set in user menu will result back to factory and will need to be redone. TV should shut down on its own and come back on on channel 3.

I bought a out of the box 47 inch Visio LCD E470VLE. Comcast is the cable provider. The entire picture doesn't fit in the screen. I have tried everything in the menu. We miss the sports scores on the...

This is a problem with aspect ratio. You need to find the correct combination of settings between your Comcast menu settings and the television menu settings. I personally have Directv, but there should be something of the same effect in the Comcast menus. On the remote control that came with your cable box, press the menu button and navigate to the settings, and from there display or picture. There should be a setting relating to the aspect ratio, and the same applies for the built-in TV menus using your Visio remote. A typical widescreen LCD has a ratio of 16:9 or 16:10. I hope this helps in some way!

    • 1 Alter the text size in the program you are running. Many programs have their own font-size settings that can often be altered in a view, settings or options menu.
    • 2 Look for an option to change font size or zoom. Often you can click on a "View" menu and then click "Zoom."
    • 3 Zoom to the required size. (For many programs, you can hold down the "control" key and then use the mouse wheel to automatically zoom in and out.)
Alter your computer's DPI scale setting in Vista.
    • 1 Right click your desktop.
    • 2 Select "Personalize" then "Adjust font size (DPI)," then "Custom DPI."
    • 3 Enter a number between 100% and 500% (higher numbers mean larger text).
