I have noticed that on the bottom left hand corner there is a little symbol that is like a 3/4 circle, with an arrow coming in form the top and then another existing to the right of the circle,

Perform a system recovery: Does not come with recovery cd's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or
1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or click on Burn disks instead of restore
3. if unable to ge into Windows then Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen on startup End User Technical Support and Service (USA only) For end user technical support, spare parts and service: 1.800.816.2237

See if the mouse works in Safe Mode. You mouse or keyboard may have been hijacked.
Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.Check your mouse properties in the Control Panel. Click Start/Control Panel then look for mouse. You can set the mouse back to default settings.
Check to make sure you have not locked the mouse on the keypad. On some systems there will be a button at the top in the middle of the keypad, just press it to toggle the mouse on or off. Other systems will allow you to toggle the mouse on or off by keystrokes such as pressing and holding the ALT, FN or CTRL key then hit the key that controls the mouse keypad. The correct key will sometimes have a finger pointing into a square which represents the keypad.
you might have to uninstall the mouse then restart your computer then reinstall the mouse and its drivers click start right click on my computer select properties device manager control scroll to mice and pointing devices you might see a yellow question mark? right update driver make sure the lead from the mouse has a secure seating and the lead is not bad/faulty ((if applicable)) make sure the battery is good (has full charge)also you might test the usb device for the mouse is inserted correctly into the usb port (if applicable) click start control panel mouse you should see 4 tabs buttons, pointers, pointer options and hardware make sure you have the correct mouse selected also under hardware you have options to troubleshoot also you can select properties under driver you will have options to update driver, rollback driver or uninstall in xp hope this helps
